East Coast Swing

Remember that great party you went to last summer? Remember when you got up and tried to channel Saturday Night Fever and everyone just stared? Don't let that happen again! If you learn how to Swing, you'll be the life of the party, impress the boss and probably get a raise. Who doesn't want that? Swing can be danced to a wide variety of music, making it one of the most "useable" dances. No experience necessary, just a desire to have fun! Both couples and singles are welcome.

Guitar for Beginners and Beyond

Learning to play the guitar is easy and with practice you can become good! Each individual will be able maximize their own abilities whether they are brand new to the instrument or already have some experience. Reading and writing notes, basic harmony, chord progressions, and how play a song from start to finish will be introduced. Please bring a guitar and any material or songs you might have to class.

A $12.00 for materials fee is already included in the cost of the class.

Come on over and have a great time with us.  We learn how to play different chords, melodies and various guitar techniques as well as the basics of music.  Bring in a favorite song to learn and enjoy learning new ones.  No experience needed.

If you have played before, but have reached a plateau and need a refresher or are ready for new challenges, I do a special lesson set to fit your specific guitar needs.

Class may be taken more than once….every class is different.  This is a wonderful way to get out of the house, relax, have fun with others and learn a musical skill.

Line Dancing

Line Dancing is back and hotter than ever! Join other dancers and conquer the steps or just come for the great exercise. You never need a partner, but you can bring all your friends and have a lot of fun. Mad Louie will teach both current and older dances being done at local establishments. Wear proper footwear (for safety). No clogs, flip flops, crocs or open back shoes.

Beginner Swing Dancing (6-Count Swing/Lindy Hop)

Calendar Feb 26, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Beginner swing dancing is fun, active, and social! You don't need a partner and you don't need any experience. This 6-week progressive session will cover the basics of 6-count swing/Lindy Hop. A practice session follows the class. Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring clean, smooth-soled shoes to change into at the class venue to keep the floor clean. Class meets at The Dance Hall, 7 Walker St., Kittery.

Beginning to advanced students will learn to play steel drum with experienced director, Aaron Gibbs. This is a progressive program intended for the student to explore and perform eventually. Instruments and mallets will be provided. Limit 10 students. Storm date of Apr. 30.

Intermediate Guitar

Students will need to bring their acoustic guitar and a notebook to class.

Ukulele For Beginners


with Duncan Perry, Portland Adult Education

Calendar Feb 27, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 4 weeks
The ukulele is a versatile, go anywhere instrument that is easy to play (with practice of course). Students will have a ball learning to play familiar songs using common chords, along with basic strumming and picking techniques. You don't need to know how to read music. You do have to have a ukulele (no baritones please) and a clip on electronic tuner or tuner app.
