Diamond Painting

Diamond painting is a creative hobby that involves applying resin rhinestones to a canvas to create a shimmering mosaic artwork.  It is a combination of cross stitching and paint by numbers without the mess.  

Are you thinking of trying diamond painting?  Let's us give you a helping hand.  We have a dozen or more kits that you can choose from.  We will show you how to get started and give you a space to keep everything organized.  Class will run for 8 weeks.

If you want to see what patterns we have to choose from you are more than welcome to stop by our office and see what is available.

Preserving the Harvest!

One - night Workshop

Ever wonder how to preserve all those great garden veggies? This hands-on workshop led by a University of Maine Extension volunteer will teach you the basic steps for canning and freezing. Participants will recieve a "Preserving the Harvest" packet and will learn recommended methods for preserving food.  They will also receive the latest and safest recipes, learn about equipment safety, and be taught how to ensure jars are properly sealed.

Please bring a potholder with you to the workshop.  There is a materials fee of $20 that will be paid directly to the instructor.

Wire Wrapped Sea Glass: Advanced Techniques

Expand your wire-wrapping skills! Build on the foundational knowledge you learned in Wire Wrapped Sea Glass Jewelry and learn more intricate wire techniques while incorporating finer metals into your designs. Continue exploring creative ways to turn found objects, like sea glass, into wearable art. Bring your favorite tools (basic tools will also be provided), your own sea glass or choose from our collection. Take home a sophisticated piece that reflects your evolving design style. Registration closes at noon on 3/17.

Requirement: Attendance in a Wire Wrapped Sea Glass course with Jessica.

Jessica Muise, a multidisciplinary artist and educator has been teaching and making art throughout New England for the last 15 years. She is passionate about using the arts as tools for social change and serves as a creative economy advisor to several arts organizations and artist-led coalitions.

Sourdough 101: Starting the Starter  |  6 - 7:30pm
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own sourdough bread from start to finish? NACE is excited to welcome the owner and baker of Little Acre Farm, Kayla Day, to our Winter/Spring 2025 classes!

In this introduction to making sourdough, Kayla will teach you how to make your own starter from scratch, including initially starting the dough and feeding and maintaining the dough until it is ready to be baked. She will go over common issues that can arise from making sourdough starters and show you what each stage of the dough should look/smell like. You will leave the class with your own starter dough that you will feed until it is ready for baking. The cost of this class includes everything to get started.


Sourdough 102: Ready. Set. BAKE!   |   6 - 8pm
Now that you have learned the art of making your own sourdough starters, it’s time to see the different things that you can bake with it! If you took Kayla’s Sourdough 101 class and have a starter that is ready to bake you can bring it to class or purchase a starter before the class. In this class you will learn different mixing and folding techniques to get the perfect bread. You will also learn how to take any excess dough you may have and see what you can make with it. Kayla will have dough ready to bake in class and you will get to take home the loaves made to bake at home.

Materials list for the 102 class include: 

  • Unbleached Flour (any brand)
  • Mixing Bowl (no particular size just enough for mixing the dough)
  • Wooden Spoon or Dough Whisk
  • Plastic Bench Scraper
  • Towl (if you don’t have a towel there will be saran wrap available)
  • Proofing Basket or Bowl
  • Razer Blade or Lame

Create a Windchime Made of Sea Glass

Join glass artist, Deborah J. Ripley, for an evening of creativity designing your own unique windchime out of sea glass. Participants will be able to use glass beads, red, blue, teal, and white sea glass, and other types of whimsical items like shells, ribbons, and bells. All materials are covered in the cost of the class. Students will take home a windchime to proudly hang in a window or outside on a porch. It's a beautiful way to welcome spring!

Basic Watercolor from Life

Watercolor is a great medium for creating artwork from life. In this course we will create watercolor drawings of still life objects. Topics discussed will include colors and how to mix them, brushes, basic techniques including wash and dry brush, process, and art supplies.A suggested supply list will be provided.
