Leavitt GIRLS SUMMER Basketball
with Kyle Rines, MSAD 52 Adult & Community Education
This is the SUMMER basketball program for girls going into grades 8-12 run by the Leavitt HS Girls Basketball coaches & staff.
We will use the high school gymnasiums.
There will be practices Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:00 PM, with scrimmages on some Friday and Saturday nights.
June 19th - July 31st 5:30-7:30pm
Schedules will be emailed to participants and handed out by Coach Kyle Rines at the first practice.

Intermediate Rock Band
with Jonathan Hatch, Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education
This intermediate class will choose songs to perform together. Performing with others is an art and Jon Hatch will coach the band with skills gained through performing with bands himself. Prerequisites: Students must know at least 4 chords, drum beats, or scales.
This class will meet for 6 sessions; there is no class on Wednesday, July 3. For students who are 15 years or younger: A parent/guardian must remain on-site for the duration of the class.

Introduction to Ukulele - Group Class
with Jo Hampton, Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education
Learn to play the fun, portable ukulele in a group setting! This beginner's class covers ukulele basics like tuning, chords, strumming, and reading music. No experience required! Bring your own ukulele or use one provided. Students will be emailed a supply list of things to bring to the first class. You are highly encouraged to bring any materials or music you already own including songbooks, as well as any songs you are hoping to learn! Limit 10 students.
This class meets weekly on Wednesdays for 6 sessions. There is no class session on Wednesday, July 3. For students who are 15 years or younger: A parent/guardian must remain on-site for the duration of the class.

Music and Emotion
with Alex Fulton, Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education
Have you ever deliberated over what music to put on when you have friends over? What songs do you reach for to console a heartache, give voice to anger, or quiet an overactive mind? In Music & Emotion, we’ll explore emotional granularity through the lens of the music you love. By the end of the course you’ll have your own personalized map for navigating emotion with music. There will be no class on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

Vocal All State Prep with Josh Lund

Ages: 13 - 18
Students entering grades 9-12 in the fall 2024 who want to audition for the KV and/or all state festival will prepare the Italian Aria and Madrigal under the guidance of Music Educator Josh Lund.
Two separate class times are offered. Students will indicate upon registration which class time is appropriate for them.
- Sopranos and Tenors: 6:00pm - 7:00pm
- Altos and Basses: 7:00pm - 8:00pm

Instant Guitar for Hopelessly Busy People
with Craig Coffman, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
In just a few hours you can learn enough about playing the guitar to give you years of musical enjoyment, and you won’t have to take private lessons to do it. This crash course will teach you some basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away. Fee includes the online book, online follow up lessons, a recording of the class and also an optional periodic question and answer session. Class is held online using zoom and is partly hands on instruction and partly lecture/demonstration. For ages 13+. *This course includes ONE live online session, and students follow up on their own with provided video lessons.
Taiko (Japanese Drumming) Class
with Brendan Wilson, Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education
Highly energetic and athletic fun with drums and Japanese culture! Drums and drumsticks will be provided for classes. Optional extra $10 fee to buy your own drumsticks payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Limit 10 students. No experience necessary. For ages 11 and up.
