Authentic Belly Dance, or raks sharqi, is an ancient form of dance. Raks sharqi means “dance of the east” in Arabic. Belly dance celebrates every body type and every stage of life. The dance is proud and powerful and soft and sinewy with elegant and isolating movements emanating from the core. It’s the Pilates of dance. And so much fun! This is a great refresher class for experienced dancers and suitable for dancers new to belly dance. Please wear comfortable clothing, similar to what you might wear to a yoga class that will allow for free movement and the ability to see your movement. Hip scarves make it even more fun. You can dance barefoot or in a pair of comfortable dance shoes in the studio. Zills (finger cymbals) will be used in class. Check in with the instructor before you purchase any. As an added bonus, you will also have access to a video library with instruction, drills, and ongoing choreography during the length of the session. This session is designed as Belly Dance Boot Camp for beginner through intermediate and advanced belly dancers. We strive to go deeper into the dance, focusing on musicality and improvisation and the subtleties of technique. It's a good way to test the waters if you're looking to move up from Beginner to Intermediate/Advanced and it's excellent practice for Intermediate/Advanced dancers.

An array of supplies will be on hand; crushed, stained and fire glass, vitrigraph, seashells, sand, trinkets, baubles, dried flowers.  Examples will be provided along with one-on-one guidance.

After you have created your design, you will measure, stir, and pour the resin into the molds. The two molds will be kept overnight to cure. You may pick up your resin art during the next business day or the time designated.  Included in this class are two nightlights with brackets to attach your night light covers. You may keep the molds for another resin art project.

Bring a sketchbook and pencil and join us for an afternoon of drawing in one of Maine's fabulous art museums. Forge an intimate connection with museum collections, while improving your own work by studying the techniques of the masters. Guidance and critical feedback are provided as needed. At the end of our visit, we will meet up to share our results with the group. Museum admission is included in fee. Location: Portland Museum of Art in Portland. Participants will meet at the museum.

Let our Adult Ed program make the arrangements for the tickets, transportation, food (all you can eat) and parking, so you can enjoy a baseball game watching the future stars of the Boston Red Sox. Seats are in the Gifford’s Home Maine Ice Cream pavilion located in right-field. Modeled after the iconic “Monster Seats” at Fenway Park, the Pavilion offers some of the most unique seats in Minor League Baseball.  The Portland Sea Dogs are the double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The Sea Dogs will be playing the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies affiliate) with a start time of 6:00. Yes, you can design your own post-it notes! Who knew? Join Ann who will guide you through the process of creating your own drawings, colors, and designs for sticky notes to make something creative, unique, and functional! Please pre-register as a minimum of 4 people is required to run the course.

On June 7th Presque Isle will be holding their annual City Wide Yard Sale. If you want to participate but live too far out of town or in another town we have an option for you. We are selling off parking spaces in our parking lot (behind the high school) for $7 each to put your garage sale items in.

You need to register to get a spot but can pay at the time of set up.

Set up will start at 6:30 am on Saturday and we will close up by 3 PM. We will be doing this Saturday ONLY. (Cars can be parked in the upper parking lot). We have 45 spots available and if we max that out will be see about opening more spots.
