Introduction to Metalworking

Make a pair of fine silver earrings!
Unlock the basics of metalworking in this beginner-friendly course. Learn essential techniques like cutting, shaping, heating, and polishing metal to create a unique pair of earrings from start to finish. Using simple, accessible tools like a handheld kitchen torch and small metal anvils, students will practice with copper and brass before completing a final piece in silver. This class is perfect for those looking to bring metalworking into their home or pop-up studio. Registration closes at noon on 3/24.
Jessica Muise, a multidisciplinary artist and educator has been teaching and making art throughout New England for the last 15 years. She is passionate about using the arts as tools for social change and serves as a creative economy advisor to several arts organizations and artist-led coalitions.
Maine Driving Dynamics
with Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, Mid-Maine Regional Adult Community Education

This five-hour program covers crash prevention for drivers of all ages and is cosponsored by the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety. Those completing the course will receive a three-point reduction on their driver’s license. It is a 5 hour class split into two sections of 2.5 hours on Tuesday + Thursday. Participants must attend both classes to earn the certificate of completion and point reduction.

Learn how to combine two of the oldest and most adventurous gardening techniques, Intensive and Companion planting!
Intensive planting has its own list of benefits, including additional planting space and increased harvest.
It’s inspiring to add the additional benefits of companion planting.
Explore how the combination leads to a more beautiful garden, increased and more diverse harvest, improved habitat for wildlife and pollinators, and contributes to both water conservation and weed suppression.
We’ll also discuss how succession planting can fit nicely into the planting scheme, adding still more to your garden.
