How Do I Get Enrolled in Adult Education?
The first step in enrolling in Adult Education is Orientation!
What happens during an Orientation?
We are so glad you asked! We want you to be prepared and informed about what to expect during your Orientation session.
During your Orientation Session you will:
- Meet with our student advisor
- Discuss what you would like to accomplish through Adult Education
- Fill out enrollment paperwork
- Sit for academic placement testing
What you should know before you arrive:
- We are located at 377 River Road, Mexico, ME 04257
- The Adult Education entrance is the one that is facing the road
- You should ring the bell and wait for us to buzz you in. Once we do that, you can come right upstairs
- The Orientation process can take a few hours, so please plan accordingly
What you MUST bring to your Orientation Session:
- A current, valid Maine Photo ID (Maine drivers license, Maine State ID card, Passport, Military ID, etc.) Please present this at the time of your appointment for identification verification.
(If you do not have any of those form of Photo ID, please reach out and let us know before scheduling an Orientation so we can assist you in the necessary next steps.)

Open Studio: Ceramics Handbuilding and Throwing: AM Session VI

Open studio is offered for those who are interested in using our space and materials to make clay work independently from a class and is available for use only by those who have taken at least one ceramics class at our studio or for those with prior experience that has been approved by the studio manager. Open studio members can choose to handbuild, throw on the wheel, or both! Registration will include 25 pounds of clay, use of wheels and tools, a storage shelf, and the glazing and firing of work made in that month. All clay must be purchased through Gorham Arts Alliance and all firings will be done by the studio manager. You are welcome to purchase your own cone 5/6 glazes to use in firings if you want something other than what is provided. All classes are held at the Art and Nature Center at Tannery Brook.
AM Session VI: 4 classes, Thursdays, 6/5-6/26, 10:00am-1:00pm, $140
Additional, optional work time will be offered for open studio members and current students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays 10am-1pm and Fridays from 5pm-8pm. Members are welcome to attend as many or as few times during the week as they choose, but Thursdays will be the only day where there is guaranteed space. The extra, optional work time is first come, first serve for available wheel use and table space. The studio will be closed on federal holidays.

Arts and Crafts with Michelle "Waterlily, Koi and Dragonfly" Spring 2025

Join us to create this calming yet motivational masterpiece on an 8x8 canvas board. All materials are provided—just bring your brushes and inspiration! Join retired educator and lifelong crafting enthusiast Michelle Cross for a delightful series of hands-on art classes! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist, you’ll love creating beautiful works of art in a friendly, supportive environment. Michelle provides all the supplies you’ll need to create something amazing—just bring your own brushes if you have them (optional). Each session offers a unique project, so you can sign up for one, two, or all three classes! Crafting together is not just about art—it’s about community, creativity, and fun. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore your artistic side and make new friends along the way!
Intermediate Golf Section 2
with Ryan Mondor, Old Orchard Beach/Saco Adult Education

Designed for players who have prior experience playing a round of golf and even up to three or four rounds per year. Review important aspects of putting, chipping, and full swing with irons and fairway metals. The instructor(s) will demonstrate variables that lead to different types of golf shots (i.e., low, high, curving right, curving left) and will also monitor applied practice and instruct accordingly throughout the session and develop simplistic drills and practice routines that players will be able to utilize after the course ends.
Required: Golf clubs (putter, sand wedge, 7 iron, and Driver), sneakers/golf shoes, and collared shirts. NO jeans, gym shorts, or T-shirts.
Ryan Mondor has 20+ years of experience in the golf industry, with time spent in Southern ME and Northern California. He is the Director of Player Development at Biddeford-Saco CC, where he works with golfers of all ages and skill levels.
Mike Caron attended St. Joseph’s College and a member of the golf team throughout and team captain for his last three seasons there. As a professional golfer, he spent winters playing on the West Florida Tour and FPG Tours until 2023 and is now the head golf professional at Biddeford/Saco Country Club.

Landscape Paint Night
with Shirley Anderson, Kennebec Neighbors Adult Education

Come join us in learning what foreground, middle ground and background mean, when it comes to painting a landscape. In this class we will be painting a simple yet beautiful distant field with trees and a blue sky. Beginners welcome with open arms as Shirley Anderson will guide you step by step.

Sewing: Open Studio 06.05.25
with Sandy Clement, Five Town CSD Adult & Community Education

Have a project you need to finish or need some help? This class is for you! Bring any sewing project and get hands-on help, or just use the time to join some fellow sewing friends. You may bring your sewing machine and favorite sewing notions if you wish. There are machines in the sewing room that may be used as well.
