Indoor Herb Garden 101

Have you always dreamed of having an herb garden but you're not sure how to get started? Have no fear! Growing herbs is an easy and delicious way to start gardening. In this class, you will learn to plant and maintain your very own herb garden. From preparing the soil to planting a variety of herb seeds and keeping those fresh herbs healthy, you will learn to harvest and use your herbs to enhance any meal for just pennies! The materials fee for this class covers starter containers, soil, and a variety of herb seeds.

$5 materials fee payable to the instructor at the start of class. Herb plants will also be available to purchase.

Standard First Aid, CPR, AED Recertification

This is a refresher/recertification course for the Standard First Aid program. Prior to class, participants MUST present a valid certification from one of the following entities: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), Canadian Red Cross, Health and Safety Institute (ASHI, EMSS, 24-7 Medic), Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI), National Safety Council (NSC)

Andrew Eckman recently retired after 45 years in emergency services (police, fire, EMS and emergency management). He has been a medical instructor for more than 30 years, and has trained several thousand participants in various life-saving skills.

Are you interested in exploring the world of substitute teaching? Do you want to make a positive impact on students’ lives while fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment? Designed for aspiring substitute teachers, this course will equip you with the knowledge needed to be a substitute teacher for any school in MSAD 49. Learn about school policies, the roles you will play as a substitute teacher, classroom management tips, how you get paid, and have the chance to fill out an application at the end of class if you wish.

Ukulele for Beginners

We are proud to welcome a new instructor, Gene Fahn.  Mr. Fahn has been playing ukulele for over ten years and is eager to share his knowledge and passion with others.

Learn the basics of playing the ukulele in this FOUR-week class. No experience necessary - just a love of music and a willingness to work as part of a team.  Participants must bring their own instrument, preferably a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele.

Will meet on Wednesdays - April 10, April 24, May 1 and May 8, 2024

Wheel Throwing (Beginner/Intermediate) - Wednesday Evening III

Join us in this fun, in-depth exploration of clay! This class will provide an easy and fun introduction to throwing on the pottery wheel and becoming acquainted with our studio and materials. In this 5-week session you will learn about all the stages of working with clay: throwing, trimming, surfacing, firing, glazing, and beyond! Our small class size and experienced teachers allow for lots of individual instruction and learning at your own pace. You will leave with your own, unique body of work and an exciting new skill/hobby! All classes are held at the Art and Nature Center at Tannery Brook.

Wills and Trusts

Learn the difference between a Last Will and Testament and a Trust. Learn what will a Last Will and Testament does that a Trust does not do. Also, learn how to pass your assets outside of the probate process. Attorney Nale will be available after class to answer any questions.

Attorney John Nale has lived in Maine most of his life, and has been practicing law in Central Maine for over 40 years. As one of the few attorneys in Central Maine who concentrates exclusively in elder law, John speaks frequently to professional and community groups regarding long-term care planning, estate planning, advance directives, and MaineCare/Medicaid planning.
