Living Well for Diabetes
with Jen Paquet, Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education

This six-week class, led by two facilitators, meets once a week for two hours and thirty minutes. Each class includes a new topic on how to help participants with Type 2 diabetes or Pre-diabetes manage their health. There will be a combination of presentations, discussion, and activities with others who have similar experiences to you. You can expect to learn techniques to deal with symptoms of diabetes (fatigue, pain, hyper/hypoglycemia, stress, depression, anger, fear and frustration) as well as how to adopt appropriate exercises for maintaining and improving strength and endurance. In addition, we will also focus on healthy eating habits, use of medications, and show you ways to work better with your healthcare providers.
Seaweed Spring Fling: Sea Vegetables in Egg Dishes
with Kara Ibarguen, RSU 24 Adult Education

On the first night, participants will receive an introduction to the many varieties of seaweed and their unique flavor and nutrition profiles We’ll also create a little seaweed snack, have a ‘Cup of Sea’ tea, and take a tour of the MCSV facility.
On the second night, we’ll cook and taste the complimentary flavors of eggs and seaweed. Sweet, savory, spicy, we'll explore the whole gamut and learn how to enhance them all with a touch of sea vegetables. Bring your curiosity, appetite, and a pint-sized jar for pickling on the second night.
Parenting Workshop
with Phyllis Warchol, Windham/Raymond Adult Education
This workshop will be helpful to parents and parents-to-be. We will explore our parent's parenting, how that has an impact on how we parent, different styles of parenting, the brain, and vagus nerve. This workshop will support you with noticing your style and identifying what, if anything, you might want to change so you can be the parent that aligns with your values. Parents need support - it's one of the toughest and most important jobs you will ever have!
Darning and Mending
with Zack Rouda, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

Hand sewing, darning, fixing, and mending clothing are age-old, keystone human skills. Patches can be made to be beautiful as well as functional. Needles and thread can always be made from naturally-harvested organic material, while sewing comprehension with industrial supplies remains invaluable in the modern world. Fix it, use it, wear it out - make it do, or do without. Learn the vital art of sewing, darning and mending. We'll study cross-hatch hole-mending, then employ a few simple stitches to create a functional cloth pouch. Bring your holy garments! We have an assortment of yarns and fabrics. We’ll fix as much as we can.

WHAT IS A MEDICAL CODER?
As a Medical Biller/Coder you are responsible for reviewing the documentation the physicians have provided and assigning the correct diagnosis and procedure codes, entering the necessary information into the patient’s account and submitting the claims to the Insurance Companies. You are then responsible for tracking and receiving payment from the Insurance Companies and billing the patient when necessary. You will also be responsible for reviewing any denials and researching to make sure that the claim was submitted correctly the first time. If any necessary changes can be made, you are responsible for making the changes and following up with the Insurance Companies.
