Lighthouse Health and Safety brings you this one-night American Red Cross course. This will prepare you to recognize and carefor a variety of emergencies including breathing and cardiac emergencies, burns, cuts, heat and cold emergencies, stroke, diabetic emergencies and other sudden illnesses and meets OSHA requirements. Students who successfully complete this coursewill receive an American Red Cross certificate valid for two years. Minimum of five per session.

Are you a parent, grandparent, or caregiver of a child with special needs? Want to understand and use the tools that teachers and support staff use successfully? This blended online and in-person course teaches individuals how to provide support to children (4 - 21 years of age) with intellectual/developmental delays, autism, or major mental health diagnosis in their home and community. (Note: This class meets the state requirements for certification as a Behavioral Health Profession for job placement, if certification is desired. CPR/First Aid is needed in conjunction with this course for certification. CPR cost is NOT included in the cost of this course.) Instructor – Kevin Tracewski, Registered Maine Guide & Author of best-selling book, A Fisherman’s Guide to Maine

The goal of this course is to provide students with the casting skills necessary to fish effectively on your own. This is a “hands-on” course, so your time will be spent with a fly rod in hand, working on your own casting. Most instruction will be done in small groups, but casting suggestions will also be offered on an individual basis. Videotape analysis of your casting stroke will be provided. Students are encouraged to use their own fly rod and reel, but equipment will be available for anyone who needs it.  Please do not buy new equipment just to take this course. 

$65 for 6 hour session. Saturday 9 a.m.–3 p.m.  April 18, 2020.  Location: 103 Murray Hall, University of Maine, Orono.

Babysitters Training Course

Learn the skills and techniques necessary to be a responsible, competent and fun babysitter in a one-day class.  This course will cover such topics as: child care essentials, the proper response and handling of emergency situations, behavior management, safety for the sitter, and babysitting as a business.   Students should bring a healthy lunch and a snack. Please do not bring any electronics or phones. For students ages 11-14.  A certificate is issued upon successful completion of the course.
