Biography Duncan is an experienced multi-instrumentalist who has been performing and teaching folks how play the ukulele for the last 14 years. Having served as a volunteer music therapist in medical and hospice settings, he quickly came to understand that music is medicine and that learning to play an instrument not only sharpens the brain but helps reduce stress. It also brings joy to those who play the uke and to their audiences. Duncan has taught in a variety of Maine communities and did not let the COVID-19 epidemic stop him. He simply moved from teaching in person to an online format and now reaches students all over Maine, New Hampshire and beyond
Worm Composting HARVEST OCT 5th
with Jock Robie, MSAD 52 Adult & Community Education

This class will be a all about creating and maintaining a worm composting bin. You must attend a workshop before attending the Free Harvest.
Free First Harvest for the class of JUNE 15th is on OCT 5th 6-8 PM. There are six harvest stations.
The program starts with an inspection of the worm bins to be harvested. After inspection and coaching, the instructor will demonstrate the harvesting technique.
Then each beginner will harvest their own worm bin. Alumni from previous workshops are welcome to join and harvest provided space is available. As harvest stations are freed up they can be used to harvest additional worm bins.
Vermiculture is the process of using earthworms to odorlessly and naturally digest kitchen waste into useful soil amendments for flower and vegetable gardens. The Worm Bin Harvest Party will allow current vermicomposters to meet and harvest the season’s castings, as well as provide beginners with a crash course on how to get started. Jock Robie will speak about the basics of vermiculture, including sourcing materials, worm care, bin maintenance, aeration, insect control, making “worm tea,” and how to use and store castings.
Robie founded Mainely Worm Bins in 2011 after keeping worms for four years. He provides his vermiculture classes as a public service and has presented all over the east coast between Virginia and Maine.
This is a free program for all.
