Barre (April Session 2)

Inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and pilates, the barre is used as a prop to balance while your instructor leads you through high rep/small motion isometric strength exercises. Safely and effectively tone your whole body from head to your tippy toes.
Barre integrates strength, endurance, balance and stability excercises all while challenging your cardiovascular system to burn mega calories!

Heartsaver First Aid
with Lisa Parkin, Mt. Desert Island Adult & Community Education
The Heartsaver First Aid Course provides first responders with training in basic first aid procedures-Including the first aid skills recommended by OSHA- in a format that can be delivered in a single day This course is intended for: Security and airline personnel; Camp counselors; Police and firefighters; Teachers and day-care workers; Aerobics teachers / physical trainers; Anyone who has a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements· Other individuals who want or need first aid training. This course covers: First aid basics, Medical emergencies, Injury emergencies, Environmental emergencies.
Students must pass a skills test to qualify for a Heartsaver First Aid Course Completion Card.
Lisa Parkin, BSN, RN- is an RN in the Education Department at MDI Hospital and is the AHA Training Center Coordinator for the MDI/Blue Hill Training Center.She has an extensive background in providing emergency care in the hospital setting and basic first aid and CPR/AED care for various organizations.

Breathing And Meditation
with H Audet, Auburn Adult and Community Education
Learn tools to help with relaxation and calming the mind to bring you to a deeper sense of self. Each week, instructor Heidi L. Audet, ERYT-500 will guide students in light stretching and guided relaxation to prepare for seated meditation, breathing exercises known as Pranayama, which help to calm the mind and prepare students for guided meditation practice to cultivate stilling the mind. No prior experience necessary. What to bring: A yoga mat and a cushion or pillow and a blanket. This 4-week class will be held at Kimball St. Studios, 191 Lisbon Street, Lewiston.

High intensity interval training circuit style group fitness class for all levels. Each circuit will have different equipment to build strength and keep your heart rate elevated for maximum fat burning! A fun way to get a workout!
Students need to bring 1 set of weights (8-15 lb) and a yoga mat.
Yoga for Back Care
with Nancy Kelley, MSAD #11 Adult Education
Many of us experience chronic back discomfort due to aging, poor posture, inactivity or injury. Specialized yoga practices can help! Learn stretches that help lengthen the spine, gentle poses that help reduce muscle tension and nerve pain, safe poses that increase flexibility in the neck and shoulders, strengthening poses that improve posture and alignment, and relaxation exercises that relieve chronic pain. Each class will enable you to become more knowledgeable about ways to move your back in a healthy manner. Dress in loose clothes and bring a pillow and blanket along with a yoga mat.
Elder Law – The Basics

This two hour workshop will help participants better understand the complexities of retirement planning, advance directives, guardianship/conservator ships, second marriage family planning and of a loved one, long-term care and estate planning. Attorney John Nale, Esq. will be available after class to answer any questions you may have as you ponder the road maps of elder care laws.

Whether you are newly eligible for Medicare or have been enrolled for years, this class has something for everyone. This class will help you gain information on how to obtain Medicare, when you are eligible, and many other important topics. We will also discuss supplemental insurance that can be purchased to compliment original Medicare. There are many different products and carriers available therefore it is so important to become educated about the various options.
Medicare has an annual open enrollment period each and every year from October 15 to December 7, which gives you the options to change your policy if appropriate.
Anyone with questions about Medicare will find this class helpful.
Cardio, Core and More! - Section III
with Jenna Chase, Windham/Raymond Adult Education
Burn calories in a workout that is designed to strengthen the cardiovascular system, tone muscles, and boost balance, flexibility and endurance. All major muscle groups are challenged and includes regressions and progressions for each exercise. The class will use your own bodyweight, gliding disks and other fitness props. This class is great for all abilities as you work to the best of your ability on each exercise. Bring your own exercise mat, a set of hand weights, and a water bottle! No class 2/19, 4/22.
