Grow Your Own Organic Garden!

Interested in learning how to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner?  Join us for an evening-long workshop on how to grow your own garden organically presented by the Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association (MOFGA).  We'll talk about the basics of soil, the fundamentals of making and using compost, the principles of crop rotaiton, and how to incorporate green manures to manage nutrients in the garden.  Other topics will include basic weed control strategies and cultural methods for dealing with pests.  The instructor will be an experienced farmer or gardener from your region.  We will even send you home with free seeds!  All are welcome, from first-timers to experienced gardeners who want to experiment with new techniques.

Whole Body Yoga - Section VI

Whole Body Yoga will move us beyond our breath and into a creative, flowing sequence each week. Sun Salutations will be incorporated throughout the class and provide us energy and strength. Sun Salutations are very powerful and touch each muscle in the body; that is why we call this class Whole Body Yoga for a full body experience. Please dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat! No classes 4/21, 4/23.

House And Garden, Naturally (A Make And Take Class)

Spring is coming (REALLY!! It is!), and with it comes throwing open windows, clearing out the dust, and getting the gardens ready for another growing season.  Whether wiping the dirt out of your home or wiping the dirt off your hands is your favorite, either way, we have natural solutions for keeping pests and critters out, for returning the sparkle, and for supporting your organic gardening.  All are super simple, proven effective, and will have you breathing easy, literally and figuratively.  We'll have a casual get-together that will be a fun time and informative, too!  And you'll get to make a couple goodies, along witht he recipes to make more!  These are easy to make -- one will freshen up your home and another will keep pests adhering to the "hospitality rules".  And there will be an extra surprise bonus, too, plus some additional easy-peasy but good recipes!

Mindful Yoga - Section VI

Please join us for an evening of breathing and stretching in this Mindful Yoga class. This practice of yoga can help rewire or reshape our brain and improve the quality of our life experiences. In this gentle class, we move mindfully through a series of postures designed to increase flexibility and build strength while encouraging a connection between movement and breath. Please dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat! No class 4/23.

YogaChi! Mindful Movement Mix

A relaxing mix of easy movement to align mind and body. Using a combination of chair and mat yoga, mixed with elements of Tai Chi make this class a good one for those starting an exercise routine or for improving balance, flexibility, and respiratory function as well as wanting to support mindfulness and ease of motion. A limited number of mats will be available or you may bring your own.

Chain Saw Safety for Women

Local logging sports athlete/promoter "Timber" Tina Scheer (Great Maine Lumberjack Show) and arborist Michelle Braley will teach women how to operate a saw! They will teach you everything from starting the saw, operating it safely, fixing simple problems on the chain saw, filing a chain, cutting a small tree and de-limbing it, cutting your own firewood and doing it for yourself with confidence! Then it's into the woods to practice cutting safely with guidance from your instructors. This is a hands-on class. Expect a FUN atmosphere with expert knowledge!!

Students may bring their own chainsaw and safety equipment if they have them, otherwise, equipment will be provided.

Please bring a bag lunch and drink to class.
