There is still a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation about Maine's compassionate end-of-life care option. Many providers and patients are still not familiar with Maine's Death with Dignity Act. In effect since September 2019, the law permits physicians to practice medical aid-in-dying under specific circumstances. Join this class to get fact-based information and the details you need to know about Maine's law, how to have the conversation with your physician, and how to qualify for the law or support your loved one who may be qualifying. What better way to take care of yourself or a loved one than creating your aromatherapy care package?  From bath salts, pillow sprays, bath bombs, and tea blends, there is something for everyone, and these make-and-takes are a great way to create your own spa experience from the comfort of your own home.  

Enjoy this rejuvenating tea blend by making your own! 

Nancy will show you the best blend of herbs to use and how to brew it.  She will bring in some tea for you to try during class time!

Materials fee of $8 (CASH) for the instructor to pay for materials.

Materials to bring: a glass measuring cup (at least 2 cups) plus a spatula or spoon for stirring.

This class is individual and is a series of classes for the Bundle Package which saves $20.

Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Volunteer Training April W24

This is a five-week course that will provide participants, 16 years and older, with the tools and understanding needed to lead small groups of participants through a day of open-water fishing adventure. We will explore the principles of the Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs campaign and use our knowledge to offer a day of open-water fishing. This course is geared to pair mentors with youth to promote spring and summer, outdoor education and develop a love for life-long learning.

INFORMATIONAL DATE: April 4 from 1:00-3:00 pm.

4 weeks of class held Thursdays, from 6:30-8P 

April 25, May 2, May 9, NO May 16, May 23

Practical Assessment on Friday, May 24 from 1-430P at BiCentennial Nature Park, Rte 3, Augusta.

This course will be taught by Kelli M Gilzow Stowell, our certified Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs Instructor, Certified Educational Trip Leader for Augusta Adult and Community Education AACE Program Coordinator, Augusta Parks and Recreation Outdoor Educator, and Certified American Red Cross Instructor.

Following the presentation, Jo-Ann will be available for a question and answer session. Jo-Ann Neal of Allen Insurance and Financial is a licensed insurance agent specializing in Medicare. Jo-Ann joined Allen Insurance and Financial in May 2013, bringing with her 10+ years of human resources and benefits administration experience. In 2016, she earned a Benefits Account Manager certification from the National Association of Health Insurance Underwriters and became appointed to work with customers on Medicare plans.

Walking with poles (snowshoes + poles with snow) burns 20-40% more calories than regular walking, develops upper body strength, increases safety with upright stability, while reducing impact on lower body joints.  And Nordic Walking enhances mood and is a fun and social way to enjoy the outdoors year-round.  Suitable for the beginner exerciser to the active athlete.  Wear comfortable footwear and dress for outdoor seasonal weather. Bring your own walking poles (will need an asphalt rubber tip) or instructor-provided poles available: $9 lab fee payable at first class
