Join us for "Cooking Matters," a no-cost cooking class series offered in partnership with Healthy Acadia and Maine SNAP-Ed. In this class, participants will learn cooking tips and techniques, tips for proper food safety and storage, nutrition info to keep your family healthy, ways to stretch food and maximize your resources, tips to get your family to try new foods, and smart shopping tips. You will receive a bag of FREE groceries each week to prepare one of the lesson's recipes at home. Graduation certificate, recipe book, and other free resources will be provided upon course completion.

Stretch and Tone Session 4

This low-impact, easy-to-follow exercise class uses light weights to strengthen and tone your muscles. In the process, you will strengthen your bones. We will also concentrate on balance moves, as this is very important for stability and overall health. Instead of crunches, we will focus on core strength moves. Exercises will help you increase flexibility in arms, legs and lower back. Wear comfortable clothing, sneakers, and bring an optional mat or towel.
American Red Cross Adult First Aid/CPR/AED & Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED JAN 25

American Red Cross Adult First Aid/CPR/AED & Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Learn ways to provide first aid during emergencies of victims ages 12 and over. ARC Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED will prepare you to care for emergencies involving adults, children and infants. Receive an American Red Cross certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years when successfully completing this course! Courses meet OSHA/workplace requirements.

CPR class includes: adult, child and infant CPR and AED use, adult, child and infant choking, and how and when to call emergency services. Course fee covers use of the manikins, DVD, certified instructor, practical components, and a certificate of completion. The class content has been adjusted so everyone has enough time to gain confidence in their skills. This class is taught to the standards established by the American Heart Association. The workbook is not included with this class. *If you would like a workbook, please indicate on your registration form. Cost of the book is $10.

Yin & Yang Yoga (Feb)

Heal the body, mind & spirit with a balancing flow of both gentle and challenging postures. Get deep into the connective tissue with a restorative stretch as well as get your heart pumping with an invigorating Vinyasa flow that links breath to movement. The goal is to create a state of peace and wellbeing. Class is suitable for all levels of experience. This is an in-person class.

After a spiritual awakening in the summer of 2011, Christina was drawn to the yoga studio and to meditation. She enjoyed each class so much that she kept going back to experience different types of yoga and different teachers. She has learned that relating to the teacher plays such a huge role in whether the class is of fulfillment or not. In 2014, Christina started working and training at CorePower Yoga in San Diego, California where she learned the benefits of Hot Yoga. This inspired her to get certified to teach through the studio, where she received her 200-hour certification in Hot and Vinyasa Flow yoga. Christina was also introduced to Yinki Yoga, a form of Yin or Restorative Yoga with the added benefits of Reiki Healing Energy. She was then inspired to study Reiki and receive certifications in Levels 1, 2 & 3, as well as Yin Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga.
Over the past 12 years she has transformed her practice of yoga into her daily life on and off the mat. After 20 years of being an all day standing hairdresser and having pain in her physical body, she experienced a huge relief both physically and mentally from her practices. Her passion for yoga has literally changed her life in every way and she desires to share that with others looking to change theirs and to feel better within their bodies. She is very passionate about health and well being and would love to share her knowledge and wisdom with you on the mat!
