Wilderness First Aid Fall 2022
with Northeast Whitewater, Piscataquis Valley Adult Education Cooperative
This Wilderness First Aid CPR Instruction 16-hour class is ideal for anyone in a recreational or occupational environment an hour or more from EMS response. Based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines with enhanced content to meet OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Programs. Offers flexibility for organizations and their instructors to adapt the training to varying environments, from camps and parks to remote occupational settings. Reviewed and/or supported by the American Camp Association, American Canoe Association, National Recreation and Park Association and JCC Association. To enhance the “real-life” experience of class takers, major portions of the training are designed to be taught in an outdoor setting. Experience matters and Northeast Whitewater has over 25 years of experience training Maine’s river guides in our whitewater raft guide training, swiftwater rescue programs and wilderness first aid/CPR. Our outdoor training programs are designed to help participants gain skills that they can carry with them their entire lives. Northeast focuses on providing a learning environment where one can grow professionally and achieve their own personal goals and outdoor pursuits. Take your emotions from depletion to renewal! It is estimated that more than 90% of people who suffer with chronic anxiety or stress have breathing pattern disorders, also known as Dysfunctional Breathing Disorder. In this class you’ll learn to calm your emotions, move from a feeling of emotional depletion to a feeling of renewal, to avoid panic attacks, and to feel like you can just breath easier! This two hour course is an on-demand, on-line, anytime, self-directed course! The link will be provided to you upon course registration. No student limit.
WOWI Career Assessment and Counseling
with Lynn Sheehan, York Adult Education
The WOWI (World of Work Inventory) Career Assessment takes into account your skills, interests, and work style. After you take the assessment, a trained WOWI professional will interpret the results with you. You will then meet one-on-one and find out what job(s) you are best suited for. Together we will Assess, Explore and Plan your future! This WOWI service is kept free for you due to the generosity of a grant through the Maine Department of Education. Please complete this brief survey for the DOE and the WOWI is free. If you’d rather not, then the cost is $75. The counseling time can be in person at the York Adult Education, or livestreamed on your computer.

Since 2001, NACE has opened our doors to welcome community members to walk our multiple indoorand outdoor walking routs throughout the Noble High School property. Indoor routes range from1/3 to 1/2 mile. If you’re up for a challenge, you have the option of including stairs in your workout.The outdoor routes are about a mile in distance. This is a great way to get in some exercise, especiallyduring the cold New England months. Bring a friend or come as a family. All are welcome! Not to mention, joining is FREE!
To join, just drop by the adult education office to sign in and pick up a name tag. When you're doneyou just sign out and drop off your name tag.

Zumba - 6 Sessions

NACE is excited to welcome back instructor Maribel Despres and her zumba classes!
Join Maribel at Noble High School in North Berwick, where you can take the “work” out of workout! She mixes low-intensity and high-intensity moves for a calorie-burning dance fitness party. Zumba is a total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility. There will be class sessions offered Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes with little to no tread to reduce twisting knee joints. At this time, masks are required.

with Lally Broch Farm, RSU #3 Adult & Community Education
Come have some fun and learn to make yourown healthy, skin~loving Body Lotion andvegan Lip Balm! The folks from Lally Broch Farm will be at RSU3 Adult & Community Education to help take you through all of the steps to make your own customlotions and balms- perfect for gifts or your own personal use! You will create body lotion and bring it home in a refillable, glass mason jar with black lid and pump. Then, try your hand at creating your own flavorful lip balms with vegan butters, oils, and waxes to lock inyour lip’s moisture and keep them healthy this winter.Cost of the class is $45 for materials - paid to the instructor on the night of the class and $5 per person and pre-registration is required. Seating is extremely limited, and our classesoften sell out quickly, so don’t delay. We hope to see you there!

In this introductory class by Adobe Certified Expert Rob Underwood, you will learn the basics of Adobe’s premiere photo editing application. Did you ever wonder how photos were edited so precisely? Did you ever want to remove an unwanted family member from a photo? Here’s your chance to learn how to “photoshop” images. You will need to have at least the 30-day trial of this application on a laptop to participate in the class. You will learn, Retouching photos, color correction, photo Illustrations, tools panel, working with layers, and selections & channels.
