Cosmetology Career Exploration Track

Have you ever thought about a job / career in hair styling, skin care, or professional make-up? Did you know that it takes a year or less to train for such jobs/careers? This track will help you learn about job opportunities and career-planning related to cosmetology; provide you with the basic reading, writing, math, presentation, critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as technology/computer skills needed to enter and succeed in such jobs/careers; and begin the process of applying to classes or training programs related to hair styling, barbering, skin care, and professional make-up.

You MUST register at no cost in order to attend sessions.  

There is a $3 Drop in fee for EACH session you attend.  Pay at the session location.

Tuesday is a great day for making change! A support group for people ages 13 and up committed to or considering making a change with their substance use. It’s free, confidential, and there is no sign up. Just show up at the York Public Library. Free pizza too! Making Change is not treatment or therapy. Making Change is a one hour, weekly support group that encourages honesty, promotes self-awareness, and inspires positive change. This training is sponsored by a partnership between YACE and Choose to be Healthy Coalition of York Hospital. Pizza donated by Anthony’s, York House of Pizza, and Ruby’s. Thank you for your support! Evening Indoor Walking Program

Are you looking for a dry, safe, and well-lit place to walk? Join us for a healthy way to keep fit. A walking clinic will kick off the program providing information on techniques, proper stretching, goal setting, and record-keeping. Information night for new participants is Monday, 9/16, 5:30 - 6:30PM in the high school cafeteria. No need to attend if you have previously participated in the walking program. Families are welcome to walk from 3:00 – 6:00PM after the intro night. The nominal fee covers the entire semester! Kids are free. No access 10/14, 11/11, 11/27, 11/28.

 Monday through Thursday, 9/16 – 12/19, 3:00 – 8:00PM

This high intensity aerobic workout will give you a great opportunity for aerobic exercise through guided routines building on four basic punches and four basic kicks. Some core strength building will also be included. All experience levels are welcome.
