America's Boating Course
with Craig Shipp, RSU 24 Adult Education
Learn the fundamentals of safe boating and earn the Maine state recognized certification that requires completion of a boating education course before operating most watercraft. This state requirement goes into effect in 2024 for anyone born after 1999. Class covers safety equipment, trip planning, navigation rules and aids, state and federal regulations, anchoring, dealing with adverse conditions and emergencies, communications, trailering, knots and lines, and more! The information is useful for operators of all types of watercrafts (power, sail, paddle) and is applicable for both ocean and freshwater boating. The course includes an examination for certification.
A materials/administration fee for the course is $10. Manuals are $28 if you want to buy one, payable at first class by cash or check ("Penobscot Bay Sail and Power Squadron") to the instructor.
This course is sponsored by the Penobscot Bay Chapter of the US Power Squadrons, America’s Boating Club.

CHAIR YOGA
with Marianne Wyer, Sacopee Valley Adult & Community Education
Gain the benefits of yoga exercise without being on the floor! The chair is used as your foundation and support. This program is beneficial to all, regardless of age or flexibility. Simple stretching, guided breathing, and individual adjustments aid in gaining strength, balance, and vitality. Bring water for hydration. You may also bring a mat to place under your chair if you would like. Please pre-register as we need a minimum of 4 people to run the course.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga
with Desiree Kelley, RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult and Community Education
Explore classical and creative yoga poses flowing in conjunction with breath. Class will begin with centering exercises, move through traditional Sun Salutations, and flow into standing sequences linking breath with movement.
We wind down with cooling postures and blissful Savasana (rest to absorb practice). With a focus on strength, balance, and flexibility—always maintaining proper alignment and safety—you can expect to leave feeling refreshed and a bit sweaty!
Suitable for all levels, but you must be able to participate in one hour of physical activity independently. Participants will need a yoga mat, two yoga blocks, and one blanket.

Integral Tai Chi with Robin

Join Robin for Integral tai chi on Thursday afternoons. In this ten-week session, we will continue to refine and play with our vital energy, or Qi. Integral tai chi is a body/mind/spirit practice that includes breath awareness, gentle movement, self- massage, and mind focus. *Enrollment in this class is suggested for students who have been studying with Robin for at least a year, or those who have prior experience. Please contact Robin with any questions. ***NO CLASS: 4/18.

Learn to listen to your body for what it wants and needs. Using Kripalu Yoga techniques, learning your own version of postures with modifications as needed. Yoga helps with stress relief; better breathing; increase in strength and flexibility; improved circulation; cardiovascular conditioning; inner peace and more. (All classes will be designed to meet the needs of Beginning yogis and Advanced Beginners practicing yoga). Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothes.

Here’s a great introduction covering the operation of various models, hands-on flight practice, uses across industries, FAA regulations, risks, insurance, career opportunities & more! Working (or thinking about a career) in real estate, construction, transportation, insurance, public safety, photography? Discover how Mainers are using drones in their business settings, and how you could start your own business! We’ll also talk about opportunities for further training! There’s a good bit of technical reading involved, and you should be comfortable browsing the internet.
