Wild Mushroom walk

This three hour course includes a walk through the woods to find edible mushrooms along with detailed descriptions of habitat and structure of mushrooms. Most mushrooms found in nature are not edible, but learning this is more important than knowing which ones to eat. David Spahr has collected edible mushrooms for 45 years and is a member of the Maine Mycological Society and North American Mycological Association. He is on the Maine Mushroom Task Force developing rules for the foraging and sale of wild mushrooms. Minimum age is 12 with an adult. 

Late Summer Plant Walk at Clifford Park

Enjoy the delights and treasures of beautiful Wabanaki land at Clifford Park in Biddeford! Plant and bird hobbyist Laura will guide you on a stroll along a moderate trail with a couple of hills, rocks, and roots. Discover late-blooming flowers, learn how pollinators prepare for winter, and appreciate local ecology and wildlife. Registration closes at noon on 9/6. Wear comfortable shoes; bring bug spray (and binoculars, if desired). Meet in parking lot. Walk begins promptly at 9:30 AM. Rain date Wednesday, 9/11, 3-5 PM. Note: Please communicate any accessibility concerns at registration, and Laura will contact you to discuss any needed accommodations.

Laura Grover is a plant and bird hobbyist, botanical illustrator for Fedco Seeds, and a mindfulness ambassador. She has led many plant identification and mindful foraging walks for people of all ages. She enjoys bringing people together to look closely in nature, practice mindfulness outside, and be a sensory animal in the woods.

Is Pickleball for you?

Join us for the basics for those new to the game and absolute beginners. Learn the rules of scoring, court basics, the non-volley zone, common terms, faults, hot tips, and serving - the most significant difference from tennis. Students will be notified, via text, of weather location change the morning of class.

Bring a pickleball paddle and ball (approx. $15-$40 on Amazon, deals for packs of 2 paddles), active wear, weather-appropriate clothing, tennis shoes, and water.

Andra Yanchenko specializes in fitness, functional movement, and racquet sports. She is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Health Coach, USTA, USPTA, PTR Coach, and YogaFit Instructor.

Pickleball Practice & Play

For those just starting out in pickleball or for those players who wish to get better at the sport. A specific game component will be covered at each session, and students will learn the rules that apply to that skill. Following drills and practice, Coach Andra will observe an organized match and provide advice to players on how best to improve their game. Play, practice, and build your pickleball prowess in each weekly session, as a different skill is on offer each week. Students will be notified, via text, of weather postponements the morning of class.

Global Dance Party 1 (Sept/Oct)

Fall Interval Fitness

This interval training class offers three essential fitness components: cardio, strength training, and stretching to release tension. Yoga For Every-Body (1)

There is no wrong way to have a body and there is no wrong body for yoga! The practice of yoga benefits every body and this class is especially designed for people who may not feel like they fit the description of the typical yoga student. While you do not need to be a specific size, shape, or ability level to attend, special attention will be paid to modifications for larger bodies and bodies with mobility and/or flexibility challenges. Classes will move through a modified slow flow and offered in a manner that respects and celebrates differences and encourages strength building, balance, flexibility, and self-acceptance. Breathwork and meditation will also be explored.
