Grow Your Own Organic Garden

Interested in learning how to grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner? Join us for an evening long workshop on how to grow your own garden organically. We’ll talk about the basics of soil science and how to enrich your soil to produce healthy, high-yielding plants. The course will also cover the fundamentals of making and using compost, the principles of crop rotation and how to incorporate green manures and manage nutrients in the garden. Other topics will include how to tell the difference between cultivated plants and weeds, basic weed control strategies and cultural methods for dealing with pests. The instructor will be an experienced farmer or gardener from your region. We will even send you home with free seeds! All are welcome from first-timers to experienced gardeners who want to experiment with new techniques.

Learn the basic elements of the six-string guitar and be introduced to chords, various strumming styles and the keys to playing along with your favorite music. Kevin uses quick learning tips to have fun learning how to tune the strings and play basic chords from different musical types. The class is for beginners to intermediate level, children to adult guitar enthusiasts. Students must bring a six-string guitar to the class. No class on 4/24.

The course will help you make good choices about becoming a homeowner and selecting a home that meets your needs and matches your financial resources. Receive step-by-step instruction from application to closing, as well as determining how much home you can afford; budgeting for homeownership expenses; how credit affects home buying; resources for down payment assistance; mortgage financing options; real estate contracts and home inspections. Maine hoMEworks offers this course through its HUD-approved, housing counselor MaineStream Finance.

Required Firearms hunter safety course for 3 nights with an online component. 

Children MUST be 10 years of age or older on or after 4/2/2019 to attend. Anyone 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the class.
