This course will teach the fundamentals of metal detecting and the use of different types of metal detectors. You will learn proper recovery techniques with minimal soil disruption and the best way to extract your find without damage. We will cover the best places to search for treasures and how to interpret what your detector is telling you. Fun with exercise - you can't beat it!

Plant Based Cooking for Health

Nearly seven years ago, Marc Blanchette began his transition to a plant- based lifestyle during his 184 lb. weight loss. He has continued to maintain his health and weight with exercise and a diet of grains, fruits, beans, legumes and vegetables. In this class, he will share his story and the steps that he took to find better health through the power of a plant-based lifestyle. The class is designed to show how simple and affordable this way of cooking and eating can be, dispel the myths, break stereotypes and equip participants with the tools and resources needed to be successful. There will be cooking demos, food to sample, easily prepared recipes to share, local shopping tips and group support. Makeup class (if needed) 04/29/20.

The Preparing Your Estate Plan presentation is designed to help people better understand the basics of estate planning so they can consider the options that make the most sense for their specific situations. Participants will learn what to consider when creating a will, the benefits of trusts in estate planning, how to help reduce taxes on estates and how insurance can help protect your family.

To enroll in enrichment classes, participants must be at least 18 years old and not enrolled in school.

Water Bath Canning - Salsa

Join this fun classes to learn about food preservation! We will cover the water bath canning process, as we prepare Salsa. Students will take home a jar of freshly canned produce after each class. All materials included in cost of class. Long hair must be secured. Please bring a hand towel or pot holder to carry your hot jar home. Max of 6 so register today!

Beyond Beginner Guitar

Further develop your guitar playing skills and improve your understanding of the guitar fret board. We’ll also play blues progressions and rhythms, touch on simple music theory, and begin to improvise and express your unique creativity. Acoustic guitar, capo, and pick required; electronic tuner highly recommended. Open to adults and 16 yrs+. 

Ian has played guitar for over 25 years and has taught group and private lessons for over six years; excellent student evals here at the Scarborough Adult Learning Center keep students coming back for more!
