How Do I Get Enrolled in Adult Education?
The first step in enrolling in Adult Education is Orientation!
What happens during an Orienation?
We are so glad you asked! We want you to be prepared and informed about what to expect during your Orientation session.
During your Orientation Session you will:
- Meet with our student advisor
- Discuss what you would like to accomplish through Adult Education
- Fill out enrollment paperwork
- Sit for academic placement testing
What you should know before you arrive:
- We are located at 377 River Road, Mexico, ME 04257
- The Adult Education is the one that is facing the road
- You should ring the bell and wait for us to buzz you in. Once we do that, you can come right upstairs
- The Orientation process can take a few hours, so please plan accordingly
What you should bring to your Orientation Session:
- A CURRENT Maine Photo ID (Maine drivers license, Maine State ID card, Passport, Military ID, etc. - If you do not have any of those form of Photo ID, please let us know when you come and we can direct you as to the next steps.)

Driver's Education: Morse High School w/Bryan
with Bryan Fortier, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
Ages: 15 - 19
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON MONDAY 9/23.
Parents are required to attend the last 30 minutes of the first class AND participate in a ride-along with your child for the last hour of their 10 hour driving lessons requirement. Please Note: There is a make-up fee for missed classes.

Are you between ages 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successful completion of the course with a grade of 80 percent or better. Only employee discounts are allowed, but you must call to register. If the student has a medical condition, please contact the office or click on the link below as an additional medical form is required. Total hours of instruction is 40; 30 classroom and 10 driving. Full payment of $560 is required at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. Please bring your birth certificate or passport to the first class and a pen to every class as well as glasses for your eye exam, if you wear them.

Email Basics

Learn the basics of using email in this class. We will look at navigating, composing, replying, working with attachments and more, with hands-on class participation.

Panoramic Sugar Easter Eggs
with Steven Watts, Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education
Make your own old-fashioned sugared Easter egg and create a scene to go inside. Materials fee of $30.00 is due by cash or check, payable to the instructor, at the start of class. All baking classes with Steve Watts are hands-on and students take home their finished products.
America's Boating Course
with Craig Shipp, RSU 24 Adult Education
Learn the fundamentals of safe boating and earn the Maine state recognized certification that requires completion of a boating education course before operating most water craft for anyone born after 1999. Class covers safety equipment, trip planning, navigation rules and aids, state and federal regulations, anchoring, dealing with adverse conditions and emergencies, communications, trailering, knots and lines, and more! The information is useful for both ocean and freshwater boating. The course includes an examination for certification.
A materials/administration fee for the course is $10. Manuals are $35 if you want to buy one, payable at first class by cash or check ("Penobscot Bay Sail and Power Squadron").
No class 4/24.

CPR Session III
with Charissa Kerr, Gorham Adult Education
The CPR class includes adult, child, and infant CPR and AED use, adult, child, and infant choking, and how and when to call emergency services. The course cost includes the use of the manikins, video, certified instructor, practical components, and a certificate of completion. The video portion has been shortened, and the practical time has been increased to ensure everyone has enough time to gain confidence in their skills. This class is taught to the standards established by the American Heart Association. The workbook is not included in this class. If you would like a workbook, please indicate on your registration form (one workbook covers CPR and first aid). The cost is $10 for the book, payable to the instructor.

Understanding the Maine Death with Dignity Act - ZOOM ONLY - Apr 2025

This is a ZOOM only class. There is still a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation about Maine’s compassionate end-of-life care option. Many providers and patients in Maine are still not familiar with Maine’s Death with Dignity Act. In effect since September 2019, the law permits physicians to practice medical aid-in-dying under specific circumstances. Join this class to get fact-based information and all the details you need to know about Maine’s law, how to have the conversation with your physician, and how to qualify for the law or support your loved ones who may be qualifying.
Phishing, Smishing, Vishing, OH MY!
with Sunrise County Economic Council, RSU 24 Adult Education
Participants should have previous knowledge of the basics of frauds and scams as content covers phishing, vishing, smishing, skimming, shimming, and e-pickpocketing. Participants learn to take a more alert and proactive approach whether in the digital or real world.
