Gentle Fitness for Health (Apr)

This class offers seated strength and flexibility exercises to improve mobility and fall prevention. All exercises will support people with arthritis, osteoporosis and other health concerns if they are cleared by their primary care provider. This is a live, online class using ZOOM; no class 05/26/25.
Michelle Spencer is a Certified Stroke and Brain Injury Fitness Instructor, Coach through WellPeer, and a survivor of a Stroke and Ruptured Arteriovenous Malformation in 2014.

Gentle Fitness for Health: Virtual - 6 weeks
This class offers seated strength and flexibility exercises to improve mobility and fall prevention. All exercises will support people with arthritis, osteoporosis, and other health concerns if they are cleared by their primary care provider.

Mondays: 10-11 am
Starts: Session 3 April 28 - June 9 (No class April 21)
Cost: $35 for each 6 week session
HiSET 101 D: In Person (formerly GED)
with Heather Toth, RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult and Community Education
Get started in the HiSET® Program by attending our orientation for new students. Orientation will provide an overview of the HiSET® process and guide participants through intake, assessment, and pre-testing. Workshops on college and career planning, financial literacy, and technology skills (all essential skills for success at college and in the workplace) will be provided.
Attendance at orientation classes is mandatory.
At the end of orientation, students will be referred to final HiSET® testing or scheduled for additional academic help.
Classes begin every 4 weeks --- call 474-7553 to schedule your orientation.
Drawing 101
with Lynn Carter, Sanford Community Adult Education
Beginners drawing class where you'll learn basic skills drawing with objects while learning shading skills and dimensions.
Materials for student to buy:
1. Set of drawing pencils, must include B and H Class.
2. 1 large stump and 1 small (used for smudging)
3. Kneaded erase
4. Sand eraser
5. Table or standing easel (can be found at craft stores)
6. Small ruler
Handbuilding (Beginner/Intermediate) Session III
with Piper Smith, Gorham Adult Education
This class will be an introduction to hand-building with clay! In these 7-week sessions, you will learn to make both functional and sculptural pieces, ranging from cups, platters, and vessels to more sculptural work like wall pockets, garden gnomes, and funky planters…the possibilities are endless! We will explore coiling, slab building, molds, and more. We will also focus time on learning different surfacing and glazing techniques to create unique textures and designs. The small class size allows for a fun, relaxed, and collaborative learning environment for people with all experience levels. Instructor: Piper Smith. All classes are held at the Art and Nature Center at Tannery Brook.
Session III: 7 classes, Mondays, 4/28-6/16 (no class on 5/26), 6:00pm-8:00pm, $200
Add to the online listing: Additional, optional work time will be offered for open studio members and current students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays between 10 am and 1 pm and Fridays from 5pm-8pm. This extra, optional work time is first come, first serve for available space. The studio will be closed on federal holidays unless otherwise specified.
Landscape Drawing

There's no better way to draw a landscape than to experience and observe it in person. Learn about the tools, materials, and techniques plein air artists use to capture their natural surroundings using pencil and wash on paper. The initial class will take place inside where observational drawing, composition, approach, and supplies will be discussed. The following three classes will take place at selected locations within five miles of the WRAE classroom. A suggested supply list will be provided.
