Chaga is a type of fungus that grows mainly on the bark of birch trees in cold climates. For centuries, it's been used as a traditional medicine in Northern European and Asian countries, mainly to boost immunity and overall health. In this class we will cover chaga facts, myths, and miscellany. We will explore all aspects of chaga fungus from finding and harvesting it down to the microscopic level of its many uses.

This workshop is designed to provide students and their families with essential information about carrying these plans into their future endeavors. The workshop will cover the role of IEPs in higher education and vocational training settings, how to communicate effectively with post-secondary institutions, and strategies for advocating for necessary services and supports.

Here's a great opportunity for busy folks who want to give ballroom dance a try! This session will focus on Foxtrot and East Coast Swing! You'll learn the basic steps of two ballroom dances as well as starting to understand leading and following. This is enough to look better than average on the dance floor at most weddings, class reunions or cruise ship dances! To help you practice on your own time, you will also get handouts and links to Youtube videos for each step learned. No partners or prior dance experience is necessary, just a desire to try something new!

Understanding the Maine Death with Dignity Act

There is still a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation about Maine's compassionate end-of-life care option. Many providers and patients in Maine are still not familiar with Maine's Death with Dignity Act. In effect since September 2019, the law permits physicians to practice medical aid-in-dying under specific circumstances. Join this class to get fact-based information and all the details you need to know about Maine's law, how to have the conversation with your physician, and how to qualify for the law or support your loved one who maybe qualifying.

HiSET 101 C: Online (formerly GED)

This year we are excited to offer one of our HiSET 101 sessions online. Instruction will occur using tools like Zoom and Google Classroom. 

Get started in the HiSET® Program by attending our orientation for new students. Orientation will provide an overview of the HiSET® process and guide participants through intake, assessment, and pre-testing. Workshops on college and career planning, financial literacy, and technology skills (all essential skills for success at college and in the workplace) will be provided.

Attendance at orientation classes is mandatory.

At the end of orientation, students will be referred to final HiSET® testing or scheduled for additional academic help.

Students must present a valid photo id and social security card at the first class.

Classes begin every 4 weeks --- call 474-7553 to schedule your orientation.
