Hand Embroidery

Have you ever wanted to learn how to hand embroider? Look no further! In this two-night class, Heather will teach you the ins and outs to get you started on your hand embroidery journey. You will learn basic stitches, learn about materials you can embroider, and understand how the right needle and thread can make all the difference. This is a great class for all skill levels. By the end of the class, you will have completed an embroidery piece that you can display proudly in your home.

Don't forget to bring your imagination!

A kit fee of $25 is due at the start of class to the instructor.

Let’s Make A Beaded Rosette! S2

All participants will receive a $25.00 American Indian Beading Design kit in which instructions are included. Together, we will work through the directions for a beaded rosette over two class periods. Beaded rosettes were typically used as a decorative artform that symbolizes wealth and status. Rosettes were used as trade items. Now, native artisans attach these beaded forms to a wide variety of garments, from headdresses or bonnets to shirts, pants, moccasins, and gloves. Let’s Create for Useful Sake!

USCG Captain License Course

This course qualifies students for a Coast Guard license to operate vessels carrying up to six passengers for hire (OUPV). The fee includes access to the Blended OUPV Course using Captain School Key West’s Learning Management System, charts, navigation tools, and the USCG-approved and accepted test. *Online sessions start on September 17, 2025, and run through November 12, 2025. Students’ progress will be monitored online by the instructor, and students will have assignments to complete. During this time, there will be online mentoring and coaching using Zoom, on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. **Once online requirements are complete, 16 hours of required in-person classroom sessions will be required, followed by U.S. Coast Guard-approved and required examinations, all in Maine. The in-person sessions will run from Merrymeeting Adult Ed in Topsham.

Yoga is one of the oldest "holistic" health-care systems in existence, focusing on both the mind and body. Through the practice of yoga postures and breath work, you can connect with your body and mind and discover your spirit; yoga is the art of listening to all parts of your Self. Hatha yoga postures linked with the breath have a powerful effect on all systems of the body providing the energy to age gracefully, stay fit, improve circulation and posture, loosen and lengthen knotty muscles, reduce stress, increase bone density, and promote relaxation at the end of the day. Please bring a yoga mat. Recommended props include a cushion and/or yoga blanket, blocks, bolster, and strap. *No Class: 11/26. **Please bring your own mat.

Denim Embroidery

Turn your denim into a wearable work of art! Learn how to add stunning designs to your jeans or denim jackets, giving them a fresh and creative flair. You will learn all the basic embroidery stitches and techniques - no experience is necessary. Bring a few demin pieces you would like to embellish and leave with statement piece(s) you'll love to wear! A materials fee of $20 is due on the first class.

Open Studio Ceramics (Thursday Sessions)

Are you comfortable with your clay abilities and just looking for a place to work and improve your skills? Join us in the Morse High School Ceramics Studio and start making all those things you have been dreaming up! This is not an instructor lead class, but the instructor will be on site working in case you need something. $65 for materials and studio fee, payable to instructor, must be paid on the first night of class. *Purchasing additional clay: The fee is an additional $65 to cover the firing, glazes and other consumables used during class. Please note: If you miss a class, you cannot make-up the class at another time. The ceramics schedule is very tight and these classes are usually full. Calendula Salve

Simple and Easy Calendula Salve DIY Healing balm for dry irritated skin. In this class you will learn how to craft your own healing salve using tools as simple as a glass jar and a double boiler. It’s the perfect way to incorporate the healing power of calendula into your natural wellness routine. The final product will have a smooth, creamy consistency that’s easy to apply.
