Remember sitting around the campfire toasting marshmallows and telling scary stories? In this short course with Laurie Notch, you will learn the history of the ghost story, why it is popular in cultures worldwide, and how to spin your own spooky yarn for fun and entertainment.
Fishing Adventure Camp
with Martin Samelson, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

Ages: 8 - 12
Are you ready to go fishing? Merrymeeting FISHING ADVENTURE CAMP is a full 3-day freshwater fishing program for beginner or experienced anglers, grades 3 to 6. It is fun, safe and educational. Lifelong fisherman and college professor Martin Samelson will be there to identify target species (Bass, Trout, Sunfish, Pickerel and Perch), help anglers match their bait and tackle to their target species, and encourage ''Catch & Release" fishing to be mindful of Maine's natural marine resources. Info sheet regarding equipment/materials will be provided. *Drop-off & Pick-up to each pond will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian. We will email you directions to each pond after you register. Session 1: Tues-Thur: 7/15, 7/16, 7/17 (Rain date: 7/18). Session 2: Tues-Thur: 8/19, 8/20, 8/21 (Rain date: 8/22).
Self-care for Your Hands

Do you, or someone you know, suffer from chronic pain in the hands, wrists, elbows or shoulders? Please join Mary Woodbury, OTR/L CHT for a discussion about self-care - easy-to-perform techniques, exercises and home-use devices to ease discomfort in our hands and arms. Some of the many hand and upper extremity conditions benefiting from self care are osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, trigger finger, and carpal tunnel. Self-care is conservative care and often the first line of care prescribed by Physicians and Occupational Therapists. This program is brought to you by Hand Therapy Treatment and Education Center, LLP.

Ultimate Beginner Watercolor: Level 3
with Catherine Scanlon, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

Join Catherine for this 1 night class to learn new ways to incorporate mixed media techniques in your work. Create depth, texture and interest with gouache, fluid acrylic, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, dual tipped markers and posca pens (and more). Class will start with a refresher on color and techniques covered in previous levels and then transition to discuss new ways to think about layers while introducing various mixed media supplies. We will spend the rest of class playing with a variety of materials to incorporate new and old techniques to complete a fun and uplifting illustration. Materials fee: $20.

Candle-Making

Come spend a relaxing Saturday evening making beautiful beeswax candles. We will be hand-dipping taper candles of your chosen shape and color design. Join us for this slow yet oh so rewarding traditional craft! All materials included. Sign-up early as registration will close 2 weeks prior to each session date.
Mushroom Walk

Join seasoned forager David Spahr on an immersive mushroom hunt, exploring habitats, structures, and safe foraging practices. Uncover surprises in each walk, shaped by season and location. Suitable for all ages (8-15 with a registered parent), this moderate-difficulty hike promises an exciting, educational adventure. Supply List: Notebook and pen to take notes, sensible clothing and footwear, water, snack and bug repellant. A basket or bags are optional. NOTE: This class will start with an outdoor talk at the waterfront followed by the walking portion.
Driver's Education: MCAE Topsham
with Chris Brilliant, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

Ages: 15 - 19
Please bring a birth certificate or passport to the first class and a pen to every class. Parents/Guardians are required to attend the last 45 minutes of the first class and do a ride-along with their child, to be scheduled by the instructor and parent.

Are you between ages 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successfully completing the course with a grade of 80 percent or better. The total hours of instruction are 40; 30 are in the classroom, and 10 are hours behind the wheel. A full payment of $560 is due at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. Please call Merrymeeting to register by phone if you are employed by MSAD 75, RSU 1, Brunswick, or Wiscasset school departments. If the student has a medical diagnosis, the list is on our website.
