This is an ongoing instructional and playing session for students that have participated in the Intro to Ukulele session offered by Nina Andersen. Each session will build on the skills learned in the Intro class and we'll build a solid repertoire of songs to play together.

This class meets on the following Tuesdays: 9/30, 10/14, 10/28, 11/12 (Wednesday), 11/25, 12/9. However, the first classs (9/30) will meet at the library, as already arranged with Nina. All other class dates will meet at the Adult Ed Center in Topsham.

Join Catherine for this 1 night class to learn new ways to incorporate mixed media techniques in your work. Create depth, texture and interest with gouache, fluid acrylic, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, dual tipped markers and posca pens (and more). Class will start with a refresher on color and techniques covered in previous levels and then transition to discuss new ways to think about layers while introducing various mixed media supplies. We will spend the rest of class playing with a variety of materials to incorporate new and old techniques to complete a fun and uplifting illustration. Materials fee: $20.

This gentle class is for those looking to stretch, connect to the breath and practice traditional yoga postures, at a slow pace. We gently and safely encourage our muscle tissues to deeply lengthen and stretch, increasing range of motion and flexibility. Conscious intention and awareness are given to the breath, strengthening the nervous system and deepening the connection to mind and body. This class is designed for new, as well as, seasoned yogis looking for a mindful, gentle practice.

Learn to play the ukulele! It has never been more popular and you don't even have to know how to read music! On the uke you can knock out folk music, rock, blues, jazz, pop, country, tunes old and new -- even classical music. Duncan Perry, who has taught more than 1,000 students of all ages, will introduce you to essential chords and playing techniques using commonly known songs. Oh, and there are lots of laughs along the way. And, learning to play an instrument is good for your brain! You will need a playable ukulele and an electronic tuner or a tuner app. And when folks hear you play this happy instrument, well, they just have to smile! In this course, you will learn all of the essential information needed to be able to understand the components of an astrological chart. Learn the basic philosophy behind astrology, what astrology is, (and is not) and how it can be used. A personal astrological birth chart is included.

In this class we will be painting a wooded scene with beautiful white birch trees. The cool air and colorful leaves will be sure to get you in the mood for this upcoming fall season. No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time you’ll find this to be a fun and engaging class. Canvas and paints are supplied.

Explore your creativity through layering paper, paint, trimmings and other found objects in this hands-on collage class. Learn composition, texture, and basic mixed media techniques to create a unique, Christmas tree-themed art canvas to keep or to give as a gift. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary the definition of ergonomics is: an applied science concerned with designing and arranging things people use so that the people and things interact most efficiently and safely. Join Certified Hand and Occupational Therapist, Mary Woodbury of Hand Therapy Treatment and Education Center, LLP for an interactive discussion of basic principles of safe and effective body alignment during our daily living activities. Simulated stations will be available to try tools and receive feedback.
