Exercise & Outdoor Fun
Lower Back Pain
with Carole Freeman, York Adult Education
This class is for anyone with a lower back and wants to maintain or achieve a strong support for the lower back. The diaphragm has 2 ‘Legs’ that attach to and support the lower back. From that position, it works with other muscles of the torso to provide stabilization of the lower back. When the breathing pattern is dysfunctional, the back doesn’t receive that support and ‘back-up’ needs to be strong, no matter how many back exercises you do. During this class, we will cover how to achieve optimal diaphragm movement and support, and practice 3 lower back strengthening exercises designed by Stuart McGill phD in spine biomechanics and author of "Back Mechanic, The secrets to a healthy spine your doctor isn’t telling you." (Book is included in the class tuition) Wear comfortable clothing with nothing tight fitting around the belly. Bring a Yoga mat if you have one.
These classes are in person at the York Adult Education, or livestreamed on your computer.
