Driftwood Mobiles

$69

with Chris Toy, Central Lincoln County Adult Education

Calendar Jun 4, 2024 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

Always wondered how to create mobiles that spin and dance in the slightest breeze? Join Chris Toy and learn the secrets of how to connect and balance recycled driftwood and wire to make beautiful hanging mobiles and tabletop stabiles. Tools and materials will be provided but feel free to bring needle nose pliers, wire cutters, spare wire clothes hangers, and coin (quarter, half dollar, dollar) sized pieces of weathered driftwood.

Chris Toy is a retired Maine educator, cooking instructor, author and Registered Maine Guide. He enjoys beach combing, where he finds his craft supplies. He creates rustic upcycled crafts by combing the coastline for driftwood, beachstone, and recycled wire from political signs. His work can be viewed on Facebook at Acadian Driftwood Arts.

Intentional Collage: Cut, Paste, and Write Your Way to Greater Self-Knowledge - Summer Collage (A Four Season Series)

$44

with Lynne Mentzer, Gorham Adult Education

Remember the fun you had making art in Kindergarten? Intentional Collage is a fun way to make “kindergarten art” as a way of deepening self-knowledge. The combination of meditation and music, images and words can reveal new insights into your current situation or new directions to explore. No artistic skill is needed; all materials are provided (including chocolate!). Because each new collage builds on previous collages, it is recommended that participants sign up for all four (3/4, 6/4, 9/3, and 12/3) 3-hour workshops. Lynne Mentzer is an avid journal writer. She is certified to teach courses in Journal to Self and has led numerous writing and collage workshops. Lynne is an ordained United Methodist minister, recently retired after serving churches in Maine and New Hampshire for the past 20 years.
