Challenge yourself by learning to play this mind-stimulating social table game for 3 or 4 players. It is much like gin rummy, using a set of checker-like tiles marked with Chinese symbols. Cost of Mah Jongg book and card is an additional $20 and available through Amazon. The instructor will provide information the first night of class. INSTRUCTOR: Beth Saidman is an avid Mah Jongg player and has been teaching for 18 years. She makes learning easy and fun.

Beach Profiling

Beach profiling is a simple surveying technique used to measure the impacts of coastal erosion. Learn how citizen science is tracking sand erosion at beaches from York to Scarborough since 1999 through monthly data collection and collaboration with state and university researchers. This data is used to help beach management make decisions at the local and state level, and the data is shared at the annual Maine Beaches Conference. Find out how it’s done and how you can get involved as a volunteer. INSTRUCTOR: Jake Aman has been working at the Wells Reserve since 2008. He manages fisheries-related monitoring and restoration projects and works with volunteers to monitor coastal environmental conditions in Southern Maine.

Bring along 2 glass jars, such as a mayonnaise, salsa, spaghetti sauce or pickle jar to make these wonderful baskets, just in time for mother’s Day. I will bring extra jars along as well. Please bring the following to class: mop-size bucket, sturdy shears, 12 spring-type clothespins, tape measure, pencil, jack knife, spray bottle and old towel. Materials fee of $10 payable to instructor at class. INSTRUCTOR: Martha Chessie began her love of baskets by taking basket-weaving classes 36 years ago through an Adult Education program. She now sells her baskets throughout Maine and her home state of Vermont. Martha enjoys adding unique items to her creations such as antlers, beaver sticks, horse bits, leather reins and halters, birch strips and seashore finds.

Cindy teaches classes/workshops and counsels individuals in health and wellness, writing; including such topics as meditation, yoga therapy, macrobiotics diet, yoga mudras, healthy living, creative writing, novel writing, travel writing and senior exercise classes.

Intro to Harmonica

You can play the harmonica! In this course you will learn to play a song, a little blues and various techniques that you can practice at home. This take-along instrument is fun to learn and play, and you will impress family and friends in no time. Minimum age for participation is 8 when accompanied by an adult. Cost includes a harmonica and song booklet.
