This is a beginner dog training class designed for both the young and the not-so-young. We work in small groups with several trainers assisting. The first night will be an Orientation & Information night, held on Monday, April 7, at the Fairfield Community Center for the two-legged family members only. (Please register only one human per dog; however, two humans may attend with one dog.) You will receive a helpful manual, and many topics will be discussed, including behavior concerns, commands taught (such as walking on a loose leash, stay, and come exercises), and other techniques.

The following four classes will include dogs and owners and will be held at the Fairfield Community Center from 6:00-7:00 p.m. All dogs must be on a leash at all times, and NO dogs will be allowed if they are aggressive.

When you register online, the Adult Education Office will send you a packet that you need to print, read, sign, and bring to class with you. Please bring proof of vaccinations, a $125 materials fee payable to the instructor (cash or check), and your completed packet to the orientation night.

Are you a photographer looking to increase your client's comfortability? Are you a frequent picture taker, looking to have better engagement when taking photos with friends & family? We all have our picture taken at one point or another in our lives, and if we're not comfortable in the moment it's taken...that shines through. This class will focus is to increase your comfortability both in front of the camera and while being behind it. Required supplies: a mindset of learning and a camera if you own one, cellphone cameras are okay! Let's create more smiles and better photographs together!

Learn fundamentals of casting from a Fly Fishers International Certified Casting Instructor. Beginners to advanced casters welcome. You will learn on a one-to-one basis how to make the basic cast, a roll cast, line management, casting in wind, aerial mends and other useful casting techniques. Special Instructions: This class will be held OUTDOORS. Bring a 4-7 wt. fly rod with a floating line. Also bring a hat and sunglasses to protect head and eyes. Instructor will provide a leader and practice fly to attach to your fly line. First class will meet in classroom before going outside to field.

Come join Shirley Anderson for an engaging and beginner-friendly ‘Paint your Pet’ class! In this workshop budding artists will receive step-by-step guidance to create a beautiful portrait of their beloved furry of feathered companions. No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, this class is a fun and rewarding experience as you immortalize your pet on canvas. Are you thinking of adding a horse or pony to your family? Before you TOTALLY refuse your wonderful loving family or make such a major commitment, there are many things to consider. Join us to learn about what it takes to care for a horse or pony for feed, space, housing, good health and wellness, pasture pals, and the various grasses and diseases. We will also discuss equine behavior, anatomy, and physiology. We encourage families to join this class—young people 8 to 16 must be accompanied by their participating parent or guardian. Limit 25 students.

Buying your first house is truly a big deal! In this 8-hour, in person class we will cover everything you need to know about the buying process and owning a home afterwards. You will learn the steps involved in buying, how to set goals, and prepare for homeownership, explore loan products and credit, protect and grow your investment, and how to avoid being ripped off. A Homebuyers Education Certificate can help you access down payment assistance or mortgage products that require HUD-certified homebuyers education—for most organizations it’s good for two years. If you never learned to ride a bike as a kid, you’re not alone and you’re not too late! We will guide you through simple steps to help get you rolling and build your confidence on two wheels. This class is open to teenagers and adults who haven’t learned to ride a bike before. Bring a 2-wheel bike to learn on—one where the seat can be set low enough to sit with both heels flat (no “tip-toes”) on the ground and knees slightly bent. We will focus on balancing, pedaling, and bicycle control. A parent or guardian must accompany students 13-16 years. Rain date will be Saturday, May 17.
