Mid-Maine Adult Education offers a flexible HiSET program to meet your busy life. Our HiSET program provides individualized academic assistance to help you prepare and take the HiSET.  Now is the perfect time to complete your High School credential and take the next step in your professional career! 

The HiSET consists of five(5) subject tests: 

1) Reading 

2) Writing

3) Social Studies

4) Science

5) Mathematics 

To pass & earn your HiSET credential, all subject tests must be passed individually. Additionally, all five subject test scores must add up to a required composite score to meet full completion requirements and earn your credential. All tests are multiple-choice with the exception of the Writing test, which has multiple-choice and one essay prompt.  Testing accommodations may be available for individuals with documented disabilities.   

Our instructors work at your pace to develop a learning plan that works for you.  Classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays during the afternoons and evenings to provide a range of options for learners to attend. All HiSET learners have access to goal-planning, college application/enrollment assistance, resume help, job search navigation, and more.

Amy brings a wealth of experience and creativity to our workshops, making each session a delightful and hands-on opportunity to craft beautiful, personalized wreaths.

Whether you're looking to add a festive touch to your home, create unique gifts for loved ones, or simply explore a new hobby, Amy has curated a diverse series of workshops that cater to different themes and seasons. From charming Easter DecoMesh Wreaths to vibrant "You Are My Sunshine" Sunflower Wreaths, each class offers a chance to express your creativity and take home a stunning masterpiece.

Create an Easter DecoMesh Wreath

Join ScrapsNSewMom, Amy Harrington, to create a beautiful deco-mesh wreath for your Easter celebration! Amy will do the materials shopping for you and bring everything to class, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn! To cover each person’s wreath materials, a $30 materials fee is due at the beginning of class. The $30 materials fee (cash or check only) is separate from the $30 registration fee. Amy will guide you through the process to create a cute Easter wreath to take home at the end of the class. The finished size is approximately 24 inches! You will have a choice of 4 different designs to pick from at the start of class. Each wreath design will have enough materials to create 5 wreaths. There will be a short break halfway through class with snacks. Storm date: Wednesday, 02/28/2024. Limit 20 students.

Create a “You Are My Sunshine” Sunflower Deco Mesh Wreath

ScrapsNSewMom, Amy Harrington, will provide all the materials to make a stunning Spring Sunflower wreath with a sign that says “You Are My Sunshine”. Amy will do the materials shopping for you and bring everything to class, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn! To cover each person’s wreath materials, a $30 materials fee (cash or check only) is due at the beginning of class. The $30 materials fee is separate from the $30 registration fee. Amy will guide you through the process to create a 24-inch wreath to take home at the end of the class. There will be a short break halfway through class with snacks. Limit 20 students.

Create a Deco Mesh Bumblebee Gnome Wreath

Join ScrapsNSewMom, Amy Harrington, will provide all the materials to make a cute Bumblebee Gnome wreath with a sign that says “Bees Make Life Sweet”. Amy will do the materials shopping for you and bring everything to class, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn! To cover each person’s wreath materials, a $30 materials fee (cash or check only) is due at the beginning of class. The $30 materials fee is separate from the $30 registration fee. Amy will guide you through the process to create a 24-inch wreath to take home at the end of the class. There will be a short break halfway through class with snacks. Limit 20 students.

ScrapsNSewMom, Amy Harrington, will guide you through the process to create a 24-inch everyday wreath with a sign shaped like a house that says “Love Grows Here”. Amy will do the materials shopping for you and bring everything to class, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn! To cover each person’s wreath materials, a $30 materials fee (cash or check only) is due at the beginning of class. The $30 materials fee is separate from the $30 registration fee. There will be a short break halfway through class with snacks. Limit 20 students.

 

Dog Training Basics - MS

This beginner dog training class will give you the confidence and skills for you and your pup -- designed for the young and not so  young! Students work in small groups with several trainers assisting. You will receive a helpful manual and many topics will be covered including the commands taught such as walking on a loose leash, stay and come exercises as well as other techniques. We will also discuss any behavior concerns you may have. All dogs must remain leashed at all times. We cannot enroll any dogs displaying aggression for safety reasons. Upon registration, you will receive forms from the Adult Education office to be completed before the classbegins. Please print, read, sign, and bring the forms to class withyou. Additionally, please bring proof of current vaccinations. There is a $125 material fee (cash or check only) due to the instructor onthe first night of class.

NOTE: The first class, Monday, April 22, will be an Orientation andInformation night for the two-legged family member/s only (nodogs on the first night, please)! The first night’s class time will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. After the first class, all following class meetings(April 29, May 6, May 20, & June 6) will meet from 6:00 PM - 7:00PM. There will be no class on May 13 or May 27.Limit 12 dogs. *Only ONE registration & payment is required perdog. Each dog registration includes up to two human companionsin the class (minimum of one human companion required).

Social Security Q & A - MS

This Q & A workshop is for people who are nearing retirement age (55+) who have questions about how Social Security actually works. There will be a quick 15-minute presentation to help you answer these questions: How does Social Security fit into your retirement income plan? When should you start taking benefits? What about taxes? The remainder of the workshop will be a question-and-answer session. A Zoom option can be available, if needed. Please email the Adult Education office at adulted@aos92.org after registration if you would like to be sent the link. There will be a storm makeup class on April 30, if needed. Limit 15 students.
