Open Lab is designed for students who need Resume or Job Application help or for students who want to drop in to work on the computer for a bit. It is also a designated day for appointment only onboarding of students to the Burlington English, Northstar Digital Literacy and EnGen platforms.

This course is designed to assist individuals in developing essential digital literacy skills. It provides a comprehensive curriculum that includes courses in: Basic Computer Skills Internet Basics Email Microsoft Word PowerPoint Excel Windows Operating Systems Mac OS Basics Social Media Information Literacy

EnGen is an online/mobile workforce focused program designed to support English acquisition for non-native speakers. EnGen uses real-world content and offers courses that cover a wide-range of topics, industries and skill levels with over 130 courses offered including: Healthcare Finance Information Technology CDL

Note: This class will be offered virtually through Zoom. Students will occasionally be required to come to Skowhegan Area High School for testing.

This class assists students who are not native English speakers develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Instruction is designed to meet learners’ needs and can include helping participants with such important tasks as exploring how to talk with their child’s teacher, scheduling healthcare appointments, completing grocery shopping, obtaining a driver’s license, finding employment or learning about other valuable community resources. Students can enter the class at any time and there is no charge for instruction. This class is designed for intermediate to more advanced students.

Intermediate: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Multilingual Language Learning This all-levels class is for students who are learning English as a second language. Instruction is individualized based on a student’s native language and designed to help students improve speech, grammar, vocabulary, and writing. Students should enroll in this class in advance.
