Students can study and achieve their dream of achieving a high school diploma from the comfort of their home. A limited supply of laptops and internet ports will be available for students who do not have the necessary technology.

This instructor-monitored class is designed for any ESOL student who wants to learn or improve typing skills essential for success in many other classes and in everyday life. Good typing skills also make it easier to navigate mobile devices such as tablets and cellphones. Students will learn using Typing.com, an online learning software through lessons, games, and more to take the learner from beginner to advanced in self-paced lessons done from home. Students who do not have a keyboard-based device, desktop computer, or other technology may be eligible for a loan of such while participating in this course.

Note: This class will be offered virtually through a combination of email, texting, Zoom, and/or online learning. Students will occasionally be required to come to Skowhegan Area High School for testing.

This course will prepare students for Algebra I and/or entry-level college math. Whether you need a refresher before registering for your first college math course or need to improve your scores on the ACCUPLACER, you will find this course helpful. There will be a review of whole number operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, and other essential math skills. Word problems and the language of math will be explored.
