High School Completion Information & Enrollment (START HERE)

This class is the first step to register for our high school completion program. Find out if HiSET(formerely GED) is a good fit for you, or is an adult education diploma a better option?
Come meet with our staff, learn what can be accomplished at RSU13 Adult & Community Education, and complete the registration paperwork needed to begin a learning program.
At the end of the Info & Enrollment Session, students will receive next steps to begin their academic program of choice.
Basic Reading

Join our literacy tutoring sessions to improve your reading skills! Whether you need help with comprehension, grammar, or overall reading abilities, this is the place for you. Our supportive environment is perfect for adults looking to boost their literacy skills with personalized guidance.
HiSET Prep/ELA/Grammar
with Rita Pender, Kittery Adult Education
Join our summer class that will be held at Rice Public Library in Kittery, ME.
Work on preparing to take the HiSET exam (formerly known as GED) in the areas of writing, reading, social studies.
This class is also for those that want help preparing to take the Accuplacer exam, or to work on grammar or workplace English language skills.
This class is a lab style so you can arrange the time between 4-8pm that works for you.

Algebra and Number Skills: Online Support
with January Hapworth, RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult and Community Education
Note: This class will be offered virtually through a combination of email, texting, Zoom, and/or online learning. Students may occasionally be required to come to Skowhegan Area High School for testing.
These online tutoring sessions will help support students who are enrolled or are prepariung to enroll in Algebra I and/or entry-level college math.
Sessions must be scheduled with the instructor. Contact the Adult Education office at 207-474-7553 for more details.
HiSET 201
with RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult and Community Education
This class is designed to help student master the knowledge and skills neccesary to pass the HiSET exam. Think you’re the only one who doesn’t know how to divide fractions? Do you dread having to write an essay for the high school equivalency test? Do not be discouraged – we can help!
Join this class, where you will gain new knowledge and skills and have fun at the same time. Online test preparation will also be available.
Students will have the option of participating remotely or in person instruction. Remote learners will still come to SAHS for occasional testing.
Prerequisite: Must complete HiSET 101 prior to starting this class.
Community Academy Language Arts & Math
with Mariah Smith, RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult and Community Education
Achieve additional academic knowledge and skills required to pursue a full range of career, secondary and post-secondary opportunities.
Instruction emphasizes language arts and math skills. If you are preparing to take the high school equivalency test (HiSET), working on a traditional high school diploma, or studying to improve CASAS scores, this class is for you.

Reading and Writing Skills for College
with Mariah Smith, RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult and Community Education
If you are planning to take or currently enrolled in a college reading or writing class, this class is for you.
Reading/Writing Skills will help students improve reading comprehension and critical analysis; in addition, it will also cover the grammar and writing skills that are required for success in college level courses.
