If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in the medical field, this course will provide you with the skills and experience to be Maine State Certified as a Nursing Assistant. The course includes 110 hours of classroom instruction plus 70 hours of clinical practice at local health care facilities.. Our CNA program is a state approved 180 hour course designed to prepare students for the state certified nurses assistant exam and the rigors of working in the field. Students interested in the program need to contact GNG Adult Education as soon as possible to obtain an information packet and schedule a CASAS exam.
CNA Orientation (Mandatory)

Summary of course will be give, rules will be reviewed, questions will be answered and payment options will be discussed. In addition, Math and Reading assessments will be administered and personal interviews conducted with the instructor.
Must attend both days.
What to bring with you:
proof of high-school diploma or equivalency
a letter of recommendation
a written work history
Below is information regarding the CNA course which will be open for registration after orientation. The cost for the course is $800. Class dates are September 16, 2019, to January 15, 2020. Classes will be held at the Sanford Regional Technical Center at the new Sanford High School.
Mon, Tues & Wed (excludes holiday)
Class days: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Clinical Days: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
CNA State Registry Test

To be placed on the Maine CNA Registry, you must be able to provide official documentation of formal CNA training that meets Maine's Rules and Regulations, whether for immediate placement on the Registry or for completing the Bridge Testing Process. If you cannt meet either of these, you will need to successfuly complete an approved 180-hour CNA training course before you can be placed on the CNA Registry. Maine and Federal laws allow you to work as a CNA for up to 4 months in a long-term care facility while you are fulfilling the requirements for getting placed on the CNA Registry. Employers can only hire CNAs who are listed on the Maine CNA Regisgtry and who are in good standing.
