Driver's Education: Morse High School w/Bryan

Ages: 15 - 19

Parents:  It is vital that your student arrive on time for class.  Due to late arrivals, students have fallen short of their 30 hours of class time and must make up the time.  Because the State of Maine requires 30 hours of class time, if your student arrives late, they will be turned away, and a charge will apply (below) for the class to be made up.  It is very important that your student arrives on time.  Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions.  Thank you for your understanding.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  Parents are required to attend the last 45 minutes of the first class AND participate in a ride-along with your child for one hour of their 10 hour driving lessons requirement.

Class and Driving Makeup Fees: 

  • Classroom: $40/hr ($120 per class)
  • Driving: $80/hr ($160 per session)

Are you between ages 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successful completion of the course with a grade of 80 percent or better. Only employee discounts are allowed, but you must call to register. If the student has a medical condition, please contact the office or click on the link below as an additional medical form is required. Total hours of instruction is 40; 30 classroom and 10 driving. Full payment of $575 is required at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. Please bring your birth certificate or passport to the first class and a pen to every class as well as glasses for your eye exam, if you wear them.

YOGA 2

This intermediate class will explore the vast variety of yoga poses based in Anusara yoga. Anusara is a modern form  of Hatha yoga that is heart-focused and alignment-based.  Hatha yoga means the yoga of force. Please bring a mat,  block, strap and blanket to class.

This course is for people experiencing tight hips and low back discomfort , as well as active people and athletes.  Tight hips impact knees and low back.  Contributing factors are long periods of sitting which lock hips tight.  We begin with simple stretches and breathwork for deep relaxation and progress as mobility increases.  No experience is necessary, Bring a mat for floorwork.

Maine Driving Dynamics

You can improve your defensive driving abilities. Learn collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that challenge Maine drivers. It typically includes creating legal documents, such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, to guide financial, healthcare, and guardianship decisions. A minimum of 12 participants.

Introduction to Upholstery: Dining Chairs Edition

Dining Chair Edition! This hands-on workshop introduces students to the foundational skills of upholstery. Over the course of six classes, students will learn to transform 4-6 outdated dining chairs into beautiful, functional pieces. Through guided instruction, students will become familiar with a variety of upholstery tools and techniques. Students will also learn how to select fabrics, measure and cut cushioning materials, and properly assemble a finished seat. Whether you're looking to refresh your dining room or gain a new skill, this course provides the perfect introduction to the art of upholstery. Course Highlights: + Learn how to reupholster dining chair seats using modern and traditional techniques. + Hands-on practice with a variety of upholstery tools: pneumatic staple gun, wooden mallet, staple remover, and pliers. + Guidance on fabric selection, estimating, and manipulation. + Basic seat assembly, padding, and finishing. + Safety procedures and proper tool usage. Materials: Students will need to provide their own fabric. All other materials will be provided. Recommendations on where to purchase fabric can be found on my website: khgupholstery.com. All tools will be provided for use during the class. What to Bring: Your chairs and fabric! *Be sure to have your new fabric selected by the second week of classes.* Please email a picture of your chairs to khgupholstery@gmail.com. This will help me estimate materials for the group and anticipate any details to mention. I recognize that vehicle sizes may prohibit people from bringing all of their chairs to the class. Please reach out should this be the case. If preferred, bring a pair of gloves, safety glasses, and/or mask to wear while removing materials from the chair. Old foam can be dusty!
