Colorful & Expressive Pastel Sketching

Designed for beginners but open to all levels, we will use our pastels in a loose, expressive way to create several quick drawings, with the goal of finding new approaches to a very traditional medium. Using expressive mark-making and bold color choices, we will work from a selection of reference photos from our beautiful state of Maine. An array of mats will be provided, with the goal of everyone leaving with something matted that they would consider worthy of display! *Registration is required by Nov 19th.

These beautiful, fragrant decorations will last the entire season and bring a festive touch to your home. Feel free to bring your own decorative touches to personalize your project! No experience needed-just come ready to have fun and get into the holiday spirit!
A materials fee of $25 is due to the instructor at the start of the class. Materials include fresh cut greens, ribbon and embellishments.
Watercolor Motifs

Dive into the world of watercolor! You’ll learn the fundamentals of watercolor painting—such as brush control, color mixing, washes, and layering—while creating a series of winter-themed motifs perfect for cards, tags, journaling, or seasonal art displays.
Required Supplies:
- Watercolor Set: A simple pan watercolor set with a variety of basic colors. Choose one that includes a built-in or separate mixing area if possible
- Brushes: Size 6 and Size 8 round brush and a small detail brush
- Watercolor Paper: cold press (300gsm preferred) 9x12 pad or smaller loose sheets
- Palette
- Pencil and Eraser
- Black Fine Line Pen (waterproof) - optional
Felted Wool Holiday Tabletop Trees
with Elizabeth Sokoloff, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education

In this workshop you will use recycled wool scraps and fairy lights to create a stunning 18” holiday tabletop tree in the festive colors of your choice. Using pieces of old sweaters and other felted remnants, you will combine gorgeous colors and rich textures to create an heirloom quality display that can be enjoyed for years to come. Tree materials are included – bring a glue gun, lots of glue sticks, and a 6’ extension cord.

Beginner Drawing
with Gayle Fitzpatrick, Noble Adult & Community Education

Develop skills to draw what you see. Start with the basics: contour, perspective, value shading, composition, and gesture. Then move on to observational drawing using line, gesture, shape, value and texture to record and interpret reality. Bring to class all items from the materials list supplied at registration.
