First Aid
with Charissa Kerr, Gorham Adult Education
The First Aid class includes medical emergencies, bleeding that you can see, bleeding you cannot see, treating for shock, and how and when to call emergency services. The course cost includes a blend of PowerPoint and video, instructor and practical components, and a certificate of completion. This class is taught to the standards established by the American Heart Association. The workbook is not included in this class. If you would like a workbook, please indicate on your registration form (one workbook covers CPR and first aid). The cost is $10 for the book, payable to the instructor.

Gravestone Cleaning
with Angela Silva, Massabesic Adult and Community Education
You will be introduced to different types of gravestone materials, and the proper steps to clean them, starting with how to get permission. For part 2, we will meet at a cemetery at 9:00 am to do hands-on cleanings.
Moss Wall Art

Join us for an evening of DIY fun where each participant will make a beautiful piece of living art. We will make a moss wall art that each person will get to leave with that day. This class is meant for beginners. All tools, instructions, and materials will be waiting for you when you arrive. A $20 material fee is to be paid in cash on the night of your class. Melissa started her jewelry business, Gem Lounge Jewelry, in 2009 and is a proud 8th-generation Mainer, having grown up in southern Maine before attending college in New Orleans. Upon graduation, Ms. Evans moved back to New England, eventually settling back in her beloved state of Maine and finding inspiration for her creations all around. While her roots in Maine keep her grounded in the beautiful state, wanderlust brings her on travels worldwide.

Colin McCullough is the owner of All-Around Home Performance, working as an independent energy auditor, and provides the service of creating owner's manuals for houses. Colin lives in Farmingdale in a 1915 house where he is working to make a net-zero energy house, and he is a BPI-certified building science trainer/proctor teaching at SMCC and KVCC.

Lighthouse Photo Workshop

In the first live online class, we'll start by learning camera settings, aperture, shutter, ISO, white balance and other compositional techniques critical to lighthouse photography. The following Saturday! During the Cruise, we’ll focus on photographing the wildlife and lighthouses, sharing techniques and approaches. Finally, we’ll meet online the following week to share, learn and critique our images. Limited to 15 students. This workshop is for beginner and intermediate photographers. Students must purchase their own Cruise Ticket.

How Do I Get Enrolled in Adult Education?
The first step in enrolling in Adult Education is Orientation!
What happens during an Orienation?
We are so glad you asked! We want you to be prepared and informed about what to expect during your Orientation session.
During your Orientation Session you will:
- Meet with our student advisor
- Discuss what you would like to accomplish through Adult Education
- Fill out enrollment paperwork
- Sit for academic placement testing
What you should know before you arrive:
- We are located at 377 River Road, Mexico, ME 04257
- The Adult Education is the one that is facing the road
- You should ring the bell and wait for us to buzz you in. Once we do that, you can come right upstairs
- The Orientation process can take a few hours, so please plan accordingly
What you should bring to your Orientation Session:
- A CURRENT Maine Photo ID (Maine drivers license, Maine State ID card, Passport, Military ID, etc. - If you do not have any of those form of Photo ID, please let us know when you come and we can direct you as to the next steps.)

Substitute Teacher Training

Are you interested in becoming a Substitute Teacher for RSU 16? This engaging training is for anyone considering the opportunity, as well as for those already working as a Sub. No experience or degree required! We will cover general procedures, classroom management expectations, tips & tricks, lesson plans, health and safety, and the application process. Free, but you must register in advance. Participants who are later hired by RSU 16 will be eligible for compensation for attending!
