Great Works Regional Land Trust is offering a one night class designed to help you use technology to identify birds, plants, and wildlife in your own backyard. This class will be followed up with a weekend hike on one of GWRLT’s public preserves in the school district region. Learn how to navigate and store your data on E-Bird and I-Naturalist. Use Merlin in real time to identify birdsong and connect what you hear to what you see. Whether in your backyard or deep in the woods, you can track your wildlife adventures by place and by date. Participants should bring their smartphones to download the apps they choose to use.

Classroom time: Monday, May 11: 6 - 8p at Noble Middle and High School
Hike Day: Saturday, May 16: 9a location to be determind

Did you know that YOU could be the life-changing person for a child/family here in Maine? Yes, YOU can become a foster or adoptive parent!

Come learn about the licensing process and the different ways you can help Maine children. There is a special need for people who can care for infants, sibling groups, and adolescents, while also supporting the reunification process. There are also over 100 children waiting to find a forever family. Join us for this informational meeting and take that very first step to becoming a resource family.

You can take this class on ZOOM from home or come to the high school where we’ll take care of the tech. Please indicate if you will be attending in person or from home upon registration.

Join us for a walking tour of wild edible plants. We’ll identify as many as we can find. You may want to bring a notepad, camera, or a small basket to collect samples. We will not be actively foraging during the class. Foraged snacks will be provided!

Watercolor Abstracts: Nature as Your Guide 

Explore your creativity with this one-night fun and relaxing watercolor class! Using leaves and blossoms as a natural reference, you’ll create a beautiful abstract painting inspired by the shapes and textures of nature. 

No experience is needed—just bring your imagination and enjoy experimenting with color, form, and the natural world. Take home a unique piece of art that celebrates the beauty of spring! 

If you are just starting on your spiritual path and feel overwhelmed or have been on your path for a while and feel stuck or unsure of what to do next, this group is for you. Come share your experiences, struggles, and successes in a supportive environment and explore ways to break through barriers or amp up your practice to get yourself to the next level. Topics of discussion may include but are not limited to: self-healing techniques, suggested reading, meditation, journaling, self-compassion, self-reflection, creative pursuits, and more.

Finish those UFOs (aka unfinished objects) or start a new one. Pick up helpful tips from fellow stitchers and make new friends! Escape those constant interruptions at home with over five hours of sewing and camaraderie. Show and tell is encouraged, and no one is too new to join in the fun! Bring handwork or your sewing machine and supplies. Iron, ironing board, cutting mats and rulers supplied.

Join us for a class in Hatha Yoga led by certified instructor, Nancy Cotty from Peace Within Yoga. Yoga is a great way to relax and improve your health and well being. The focus will be on stretching and breathing while building our strength and finding peace. All levels are welcome. Drop-ins are welcome and new students can join anytime. All equipment will be provided for you. Information learned through yoga classes and workshops should not be considered a substitute for medical advice. 

New season, new projects!

Join us for a fun and creative wire wrapping class where you’ll learn techniques to create your own beautiful wire-wrapped pieces - no matter your experience level! Whether you’re brand new or looking to sharpen your skills, this class is for you. There will be several projects to select from. Let’s get wrapping and make something magical together! All skill levels are welcome. Please bring round nose jewelry pliers with you if you have them, and you can bring your own stones if you’d like.

A materials fee of $10 per project is due to the instructor at the start of the class. Beth will also have additional jewelry kits available for purchase.
