This class is for people who have attended the Worm Composting for Beginners class already. Jock will inspect your worm bins, demonstrate and assist with harvesting, and answer any questions. Additionally, Jock will bring harvest kits for alumni to use harvesting their own worm bins. Limit 10 students.

Buying your first house is truly a big deal!  In this 8-hour, in person class we will cover everything you need to know about the home buying process and owning the home going forward. You will learn the steps involved in buying, how to set goals, and prepare for homeownership, explore loan products and credit, protect and grow your investment, and how to avoid being ripped off. A Homebuyers Education Certificate can help you access down payment assistance or mortgage products that require HUD-certified homebuyers education. It’s good for TWO years with most lenders! Register here at midmaine.maineadulted.org and the program will take you to the KVCAP registration site to finish the sign-up process—cost will be $30. Each person must register separately. Dichroic Glass Jewelry - MS

Dichroic Glass Jewelry is totally unique and totally beautiful! Instructor, Carmela Patriotti will show you how to stack layers of metal oxides that are then heated to melt them together to form a translucent glass. When finished, the jewelry will display different colors depending on the angle of light. See our website to view pictures of some of the instructors finished pieces. The Adult Education office will notify you to arrange a pick-up time for your finished glass jewelry approximately two weeks after the class session. There will be a $95 materials fee (cash or check only) due to the instructor at the start of class. Limit 20 students.

Sheep in the Valley: A Painting with Fiber - MS

In this class you will make a felted picture using wool, bamboo, and silk--no experience necessary! You will leave with finished and matted work of art, which will be suitable later for an 8 x 10 frame if you choose. The instructor, Bunny, recently had the opportunity to study under Fiber Artist, Moy Mackay in Peebles, Scotland and has brought her new skills to you! You can visit Facebook--Bunny Caldwell Paints with Wool to see examples of the finished product we will make in class. All materials will be provided. There will be a $10 materials fee (cash or check, only) due to the instructor at the start of class. Please bring a snack, as the class will have a short break around noontime. Limit 10 students.

Join ScrapsNSewMom, Amy Harrington, to create a beautiful deco-mesh wreath for your Easter celebration! Amy will do the materials shopping for you and bring everything to class, so all you have to do is show up ready to learn! To cover each person’s wreath materials, a $30 materials fee is due at the beginning of class. The $30 materials fee (cash or check only) is separate from the $30 registration fee. Amy will guide you through the process to create a cute Easter wreath to take home at the end of the class. The finished size is approximately 24 inches! You will have a choice of 4 different designs to pick from at the start of class. Each wreath design will have enough materials to create 5 wreaths. There will be a short break halfway through class with snacks. Storm date: Wednesday, 02/28/2024. Limit 20 students.

Create a “You Are My Sunshine” Sunflower Deco Mesh Wreath

Calendar May 28, 2024 at 5 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Come learn more about both the artistic side, including composition and design, and the technical, such as aperture, shutter speed, loss and non-loss files, downloading to electronic formats, and simple editing of digital photography. We will be outdoors shooting as much as daylight and weather permit. Please wear appropriate outdoor gear to be outdoors on a spring evening. Students must bring a camera, memory cards, charged batteries, all cords, camera manual, and laptop with them to each and every class. If students have a card reader, that also should be brought to each class. Students between 13-17 years old interested in registering also require a participating and registering parent or guardian to attend. Limit 5 students.
