The Sales Agent Online Class
with Center for Real Estate Studies of Maine, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
This 55-hour remote learning real estate agent course, approved by the Maine Real Estate Commission, is a prerequisite to taking the Pearson VUE state licensing exam. Based on the book, Introduction to a Successful Career in Maine Real Estate, by Charles “Kim” Coit, its content includes material that is basic to the practice of real estate in Maine. This class is ongoing and the student can start as soon as they register. PDF copy of book is provided, $35 for hard copy.
MidCoast Ukes: Next Steps
with Nina Andersen, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
This is an ongoing instructional and playing session for students that have participated in the Intro to Ukulele session offered by Nina Andersen. Each session will build on the skills learned in the Intro class and we'll build a solid repertoire of songs to play together.
This class meets on the following Tuesdays: 9/30, 10/14, 10/28, 11/12 (Wednesday), 11/25, 12/9. However, the first classs (9/30) will meet at the library, as already arranged with Nina. All other class dates will meet at the Adult Ed Center in Topsham.

Beekeeping: The Fundamentals
with Sagadahoc County Beekeepers Association, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
This six class course of instruction is designed for those that wish to become a beekeeper. The course will cover the what, why, and how of beekeeping. Topics include but are not limited to bee biology, equipment requirements and setup, seasonal management techniques, diseases, pest management, honeybee environmental benefits, and hive products. The goal of this course is to develop a foundation for new beekeepers to be prepared to keep bees. A course textbook will be provided to each student. Meets in Rm 160. *NO CLASS: 2/19.

Paper Landscape Mosaic
with Herenya Wilkey, Merrymeeting Community & Adult Education
Combine the mosaic aesthetic with the fun of printing in this paper collage adventure! On the first day of class we will have fun and get messy with painting and printing! Using acrylic paint we will create lots of fun printed textures on paper. At our second class we will cut up and use our printed paper to make our mosaic landscapes. A limited number of Gelli plates will be provided for in class use. Please bring plenty of regular copy paper and various acrylic paints to first class along with anything you think will make an interesting stamped texture. To the second class please bring a craft knife, scissors, paper-appropriate glue, and your mosaic substrate.
Beginner Line Dancing to Rock/Pop Songs

This is a beginner/slightly intermediate class that does not increase in difficulty. It focuses on everyone meeting for community and having fun. I choreograph light and easy, short dances to 80’s through current rock/pop songs. We break them down, then rehearse them 3-4 times before doing it to music. We usually get through 4 or 5 dances in one hour. The goal is to experience the basics of line dancing with confidence, relaxation, and joy. *This program runs for 3 weeks on the specified dates: 2/10, 2/17, 2/24.
Paint Night: Zinnias

Zinnias are one of my absolute favorite flowers to grow in the garden every year, and their popularity and low maintenance make them well-suited for this class. We will paint those vibrant flowers with petals that layer so nicely. . No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time you’ll find this to be a fun and engaging class. Canvas and paints are supplied.
History of Malaga Island

Learn about the eviction of a complete community living on Malaga Island in Casco Bay in 1912. Learn the prehistory of the island's use by our indigenous people and post history of the island after the eviction. Learn a bit about the mainland African American village in coastal Maine that no longer exists but predated the Malaga Island Colony. Visit the island remotely through a slide show created by Master Maine Guide, Alice. This course is offered via Zoom.
