Certified Residential Medication Aide - CRMA

This 40 hour certification course uses standardized curriculum designed for unlicensed workers who wish to pass medications in certain assisted housing programs. Course covers State of Maine regulations, residential facility policies and basic anatomy & physiology of the human body. Participants discuss and learn about common medications and their side effects. Participants will learn safe medication administration procedures, vital signs, transcribing physicians’ orders and how to document on  Medication Administration Records.  

$400 including 3 supervised medication passes.

Location: Scarborough High

Days: Tu/Th/Sat

Tu/Th 4-8:30 PM 

Saturdays 9:00am-3:00pm

March, 3, 5,  7, 10, 12, 14,. 17, 19 and 21

Calendar Mar 3, 2020 at 8 am, runs for 9 weeks

This 180-hour program covers 110 classroom/lab hours and 70 hours of clinical experience along with CPR/BLS training. Class meets at the Sullivan Learning Center with lab at a local healthcare facility in Ellsworth, and clinicals are held at area healthcare facilities and hospital. Upon successful completion of this course, passing the State CNA exam and successful acceptance to the State Registry, you will be state certified as a CNA. Prerequisites: completed application, documented medical immunization history, meet with student advisor, and complete assessments. The schedule is subject to change.

Medical Terminology

In this course, students learn how medical terms are analyzed and built, how to pronounce and spell terms, how to apply medical terms as they relate to basic anatomy and physiology, and common diseases of each bodily system.  No prior knowledge of biology required.

This program is designed to prepare individuals to provide direct support to consumers in assisted living programs, residential care facilities, adult day services programs and home care settings. There will also be one Saturday class for 6 hours.

Each participant must show the instructor either a currently-valid certification or a certification that has been expired less than 90 days from any of the following: AHA, ARC, ECSA, ASHI, EMSS or NSC or accepted by MEMS and AGD/PACE (dental providers).

This 40 hour course gets you ready to work in the health field distributing medication. Jobs are always available for this certification! Start working by summer! There is a prerequisite reading assessment that needs to be completed prior to enrolling. This can be taken any Monday- Thursday morning at 9 am or any Tuesday or Wednesday night at 6pm. 

Mandatory orientation for this class on Monday, February 25 at 2pm.

Payment plan available: $75 deposit plus 4 payments of $71.50, paid weekly.

Calendar Mar 6, 2020 at 8 am, runs for 5 weeks

This 40 hour CRMA course includes classroom, with clinical available after successful completion of classroom. All students must complete clinical, either with our instructor or arranged through your facility. Successful students will be certified to administer oral medications to residents in state-licensed assisted living facilities. Certification is valid for two years. Clinical component is an additional $125 cost if done with the MCST instructor. Please call 596-7752 option 3 for an application.  This is a daytime Friday course.
