If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in the medical field, this course will provide you with the skills and experiences to be Maine State Certified as a Nursing Assistant. This regional collaboration has allowed us to offer this course at a reduced cost! Skills will be taught in an interactive classroom setting, and a two-week clinical experience will follow. The course will focus on nursing theory and application, including basic anatomy, physiology, and clinical performance. The course will also introduce you to several employers within our region. Prerequisites: students must successfully pass the CASAS testing and interview screening in order to be admitted to the program. Applicants are encouraged to job shadow a CNA before interviewing. Documentation of a recent medical physical, conducted and signed by a physician, is required before clinical. Students must produce evidence of the following vaccinations: Hep B1, MMR, Tetanus, Chicken Pox, TB and flu shot. Fee for background check is non-refundable.

Behavior Health Professional Certification Training

Our community is looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life. Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders and their families. The need in our area is great!

We are excited to connect our community to this wonderful ONLINE training program. The online training will equip you to help children who are receiving Behavioral Health services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services providers. The training can be started at any time and finished at your own pace.

You will complete 12 online modules and 12 hours of live instruction (offered virtually). An online Bloodborne Pathogens training, as well as Child & Adult First Aid & CPR training, will be made available to you, if you do not already possess those certifications. The entire training takes about 45 hours to complete. Registration is ongoing until June 30, 2022.

Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course may register. (Individuals must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or equivalent to get certified).

This training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a wait list for services and will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time before registration ends on June 30, 2022 and finished at your own pace.

You will complete 12 online modules then three 4-hour live (in-person or virtual) sessions. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online bloodborne pathogen training and child and adult First Aid & CPR certification. In just 40 hours, our free remote training program can get you certified and on your way to a life-changing profession. Must be a Maine resident, and at least 18 years old with a high school diploma (or equivalency) to become certified.

About Woodfords Family Services: The agency provides an array of clinical, behavioral health and educational programs to more than 1,500 children, youth and adults living with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses across the state. Additionally, the agency has a statewide Training & Resource Center that offers a variety of training programs to parents, professionals and interested community members.

This course introduces students to interactions between the Environment and Society; The Dynamics of Earth Systems & Ecology; Population Dynamics and the Importance of Biodiversity; as well as Conservation of our Water, Air, Land and Agricultural systems. Students will also examine Mineral and Energy Resources, and Our Health and Future as it is related to Environmental Concerns. To earn the adult education credits, students will complete virtual (online only) assignments that require a minimum of 4.5 hours homework per week; plus a one-hour online class meeting each week (Thursday); as well as Lab Assignments that are adapted for independent completion at home.

Pharmacy Technician Training Application

This 14-week program prepares you to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. You will also receive a Certificate of Completion through the Academy of Medical Professions.   This program is active for ONE YEAR from date the of the Student’s activation, this allows you the time to successfully complete the program and to review up until the day you sit for the National Certification Exam.

Work One-On-One with a Pharmacy Technician Trainer and entirely online with support from a Pharmacy Technician and Trainer.  The Pharmacy Technician is one of the fastest growing jobs in health care today.  In this course, you will learn everything from the role of the technician in the pharmacy setting, to the basic sciences at the core of pharmacy practice, to preparing for the PTCB exam.  You will learn complete drug information that includes proper name, spelling and pronunciation, drug class, generic and trade name, route of administration, dosage and more of hundreds of drugs.  You will be able to identify pills on sight with pill photos, gain a better understanding of how certain drugs work within the body with a concise review of relevant anatomy and physiology, and stay up to date with cutting-edge pharmacy practice with the latest information on new drugs, regulations, HIPAA guidelines and safety procedures.  You will be ready to pass your PTCB national certification included in cost. 

As a certified Pharmacy Technician, you will be helping the Licensed Pharmacist with all the necessary day-to-day services that the Pharmacy provides. Everything from preparing medications to answering phones, receiving and verifying prescriptions, counting tablets, taking requests for refilling of medications, and much more.  You are an assistant to the pharmacist.

Talk about job security!! This is a growing field with high demand and great salaries.  You can work for places such as:  Pharmacies at Hospitals, Independent Pharmacies, and retail chains like Wal-Mart and Walgreens.  There are so many possibilities.

Excellent communication skills and customer service are essential in this field.  You must have the ability to learn and retain procedural processes and apply them quickly and accurately.  Most places do require flexibility of hours some might ask for:  nights, weekends, or holidays depending on where you work and for whom you work.

You will be working one-on-one with a Pharmacy Technician instructor as you go through your weekly assignments.  She is always available and is in constant contact with you as you progress through the program.
