Looking for a new career?  Interested in changing lives of those around you?  How about a part-time career or to get paid to work out?  This program is designed to teach you everything you need to know to enter the health and fitness field as a group fitness instructor and/or personal trainer.  Our trainers are highly recognized in this field, with more than 20 years of experience, and will provide you hands-on training to pass the national tests through AFAA.  The program is all-inclusive.  You may choose to complete both group fitness and personal training, or take one or the other.  Lectures are once a week for 10 or 20 weeks.  All materials included in fee including National Certification Exams. 

$1500 each, or $3000 for both certifications.

10 weeks each, with open enrollment.

Learn the pre-fixes, suffixes and root words of medical language. If you are working in the healthcare industry and want to make yourself more marketable in the medical field, plan on enrolling in nursing school, or simply want to increase your understanding of medical terms, this 15-week course is for you! This course will cover terms related to all body systems.

Please have 3x5 index cards to prepare flash cards. Textbook included.

To register, please call our office at 422-4794. Because this class is online, students should have access to a computer/device with a camera and microphone and good internet service. This class will be on the Zoom platform, so if you are new to virtual classes/meetings, please let us know, and we will schedule a test run.

140 Classroom Hours w/ a Clinical Externship

For students who want to prepare for an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in healthcare. This program trains students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. Instruction includes preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Includes hands on labs and a clinical extern- ship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for clinical rotation, students must successfully complete the 140 hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other requirements. Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

Course Contact Hours: 140 hours + Clinical Externship

If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in the medical field, this course will provide you with the skills and experiences to be Maine State Certified as a Nursing Assistant. This regional collaboration has allowed us to offer this course at a reduced cost! Skills will be taught in an interactive classroom setting, and a two-week clinical experience will follow. The course will focus on nursing theory and application, including basic anatomy, physiology, and clinical performance. The course will also introduce you to several employers within our region.

Prerequisites: students must successfully pass the CASAS testing and interview screening in order to be admitted to the program. Applicants are encouraged to job shadow a CNA before interviewing. Documentation of a recent medical physical, conducted and signed by a physician, is required before clinical. Students must produce evidence of the following vaccinations: Hep B1, MMR, Tetanus, Chicken Pox, TB and flu shot. Fee for background check is non-refundable.

If you are seeking a challenging and rewarding career in the medical field, this course will provide you with the skills and experience to be Maine State Certified as a Nursing Assistant. The course includes 110 hours of classroom instruction plus 70 hours of clinical practice at local health care facilities..  Our CNA program is a state approved 180 hour course designed to prepare students for the state certified nurses assistant exam and the rigors of working in the field. Students interested in the program need to contact GNG Adult Education as soon as possible to obtain an information packet and schedule a CASAS exam.

This 7 week course will dive into the most important concepts in chemistry needed to succeed in a college chemistry classroom. Everything from particle diagrams to stoichiometry will be covered as students gradually develop a particulate model of how matter behaves by observing and interpreting experimental evidence. The course is designed to make learning chemistry easy and offers students individualized instruction, a variety of learning mediums, simplified concepts and even virtual labs all in a remote setting. Start building the foundation you need to enter medical and science majors with confidence and tools to succeed.Dates are Mondays and Thursdays 8:30-10:00am July 6-Aug 20.
