Certified Residential Medication Aide (CRMA)

Please note that class meets Wednesday evenings each week from 4:30-9:30 plus Saturdays and Sundays 10/8, 9, & 22 from 8:30-4:30 and Clinical date: Sunday 10/23 7am-7pm
This state certification course prepares students to administer medications in state-certified residential facilities in Maine. Learn all about medications and their side effects and how to document procedures performed. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will obtain a certificate from the State of Maine and be certified to provide medication administration in the residential setting. Re-certification is required every 2 years. This is an in-demand job and highly recommended for CNAs who work in Assisted Living facilities and/or the PSS.
Heartsaver CPR/First Aid Saturday Fall 2022

This course equips students to recognize and care for a variety of breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults. Upon successful completion, a valid 2 year certificate for Adult CPR/AED is issued.

Dental Assistant

This class is distinctly online.
10 Week Certificate program in Dental Assisting for one of the most high-demand careers. This program is designed to teach all aspects of dental assisting and provide you the skills you need to work in this field and pass a national certification exam. This program is taught by a Dentist and includes an opportunity for internships. The price of the course, $2500, includes all books, exam preparation materials and fees for the DANB RHS certificate program. Upon passing the DANB RHS, you will receive a certificate of knowledge on competency for that component from DANB. Payment plans available.

Who is a Dental Assistant?
The purpose of this course is to gain background knowledge and vocabulary for an entry level position in the clinical or administrative dental setting. Learning media provide specific insight into preclinical and clinical areas of dental assisting, reviewing chapter content and the application of content. Chapters include professional and legal aspects of dental assisting, anatomy and physiology, dental anatomy, infection control and hazardous materials, dental treatment, patient care, dental imaging, preventative dentistry, restorative dentistry, and specialized dentistry. Students will be given the building blocks for DANB RHS content certifications, and access to materials to prepare for this exam. Resume writing (including updated personal resume) and professional development are required for graduation. During each week of our 10-week program we assist the student to build the confidence, skills, and knowledge to assist the dentist and be a valuable member of the dental healthcare team. Each week of the course covers a different area of dental practice, allowing students to grasp the material in manageable chunks. Media used for instruction include textbook, workbook, demonstration videos, slides and learning games, and hands-on lab.
Academy of Medical Professions: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

Become Nationally Certified in just 10 weeks as a Phlebotomy Technician by professionals in the industry. Phlebotomy technicians, also referred to as a phlebotomist, have an essential role in the clinical laboratory process, as their main job duty is drawing patient's (or animal) blood for testing. They are employed in hospitals, clinics, private practices, diagnostic laboratories and blood banks.
Classes held online on Tuesdays through Zoom, clinicals will be offered throughout the training program at various times.

What is a Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA)?
A Clinical Medical Assistant is a medical support professional that performs a variety of tasks to assist physicians in providing patient care, while ensuring that clinics and hospitals run smoothly and efficiently. While CMAs working in smaller practices may be required to perform some administrative tasks, those working in larger medical facilities focus mainly on providing support services directly related to patient care. Here at the Academy we offer both Clinical and Administrative programs that can be combined.
Clinical Medical Assistant

Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of medicaloffice tasks from administrative to technical and scientific duties and must have quality humanrelations skills. Some of the job duties include cleaning and dressing wounds, taking blood samples,administering medications, taking vitals, preparing a patient for EKGs, obtaining a patient’s history,and assisting physicians during examinations. Our program provides a traditional and online teachingfor a blended learning experience.
Practicals are performed during the program to ensure that thestudent has proper techniques and will be ready to pass the National Certification. Upon completionof the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) nationalcertification exams through NHA.
