Certified Nurse Assistant is a high demand job in Maine! Completion of the 180 hour state-approved certification course will open the door to a new career in the healthcare industry. To meet the demand for CNAs we are offering two classes this semester. 

To be eligible to take the class we must have the following:

• Completed application (including signed agreement perform a criminal background check)

• An acceptable CASAS Reading Test score

• Evidence of high school completion

• Physical form on file including up to date immunization records

Then come to our info session: Feb 7, 6pm, Scarborough High, please bring completed application, CASAS testing available

Class starts: February 18, 2019

Class ends: May 15, 2019 (exam)

Classroom on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays 8-Noon with Labs starting on Friday 3/8 and subsequent ALL DAY Labs on March 15 and 22nd (7-4PM). Clinical will be at the Maine Veterans Home on Thursday & Fridays starting on March 28th 7-3:30PM and ending May 9th.

Cost: $1000 includes all books and materials, payment plan available upon online registration

Cost: $500 includes books materials (50% of the $1,000 total paid by Piper Shores), payment plan available upon online registration

In a medical emergency, would you know what to do? We'll cover splinting, control bleeding, shock, environmental emergencies, choking emergencies, breathing problems, chest compressions (CPR), and how to use an Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED). Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.

Calendar Apr 26, 2019 at 8 am, runs for 5 weeks

This 40 hour CRMA course includes classroom, with clinical available after successful completion of classroom. All students must complete clinical, either with our instructor or arranged through your facility. Successful students will be certified to administer oral medications to residents in state-licensed assisted living facilities. Certification is valid for two years. Clinical component is an additional $125 cost if done with the MCST instructor. Please call 596-7752 option 3 for an application.
