You don't have to be a history expert to pass the HiSET Social Studies test. Our classes helps you build knowledge around these key areas for the Social Studies test: History, Civics/Government, Economics, and Geography.

Using in class discussion, reading materials, videos, cartoons, graphs, and online options, you'll cover the material for the HiSET Social Studies test.
You will review, learn, and discover new information and ways people have engaged in their communities through the generations.

All of our HiSET classes also include test taking strategies to help you relieve any test anxiety and build confidence in your test taking skills.

A few more details about the HiSET Social Studies test:
The test is 70 minutes with 60 multiple choice questions.
You can take the test on the computer or on paper.
You can take the test up to three times in one calendar year.
There is no cost for taking the HiSET tests in Maine if you are a Maine resident.

ELL Advanced with Jazzy MillsIn this course, we'll continue learning parts of speech, but will delve into the differences between formal and informal conversation. You'll learn common idioms, as well as how to use emphasis and tone to communicate more effectively.

In this course, you will learn to recognize, pronounce, and write the English alphabet. You'll also learn commonly used words and practice speaking simple sentences.

ELL Beginner Level 2 with Jazzy MillsIn this course, we'll focus on conversations. You'll learn how to describe your daily life, and how to ask simple questions to keep a conversation going.

In this class, especially designed for adults with learning challenges, students will enhance everyday life skills by improving their basic reading, writing, and problem-solving proficiencies.

Participants will work toward developing customer service, teamwork, and business skills by operating a small café.

 Learners set their own individualized goals and work toward them in a safe, nurturing, and creative environment. Contact the Adult Education office for additional information.

SESSIONS BY APPOINTMENT

The Tech Spot is a School and Community Project that offers technology advice and tutoring to adults from throughout our school district.

Examples of possible help sessions include general computer operation, conducting web searches, using Facebook and other social media programs, and operating Smart phones, iPads, Tablets, and PCs. Assistance with some software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) is available as well.
