Accounting Fundamentals

In this comprehensive course, you will learn the basics of double-entry bookkeeping, as well as how to analyze and record financial transactions. You will get hands-on experience with handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll procedures, sales taxes, and various common banking activities.

Accounting Fundamentals covers all the bases, from writing checks to preparing an income statement and closing out accounts at the end of each fiscal period. Whether you're a sole proprietor looking to manage your business finances or you simply want to gain an understanding of accounting basics for career advancement or for personal use, this course will give you a solid foundation in financial matters.


Hardware Requirements:This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac.

Software Requirements:PC: Windows 8 or newer.Mac: OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later.Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.Adobe Acrobat Reader.Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

Other:Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.A calculator and a printer.

The Learning Center is open to all adults in need of academic instruction and guidance. Hours vary by day, and we will try to meet you on your schedule. Our staff provides individualized instruction in the areas of:

  • High School Equivalency
  • HiSET Prep
  • Accuplacer Prep
  • Math and ELA instruction to prepare you for college-level coursework
  • General reading, writing, and math tutoring for anyone pursuing college or career education
  • Workforce credential or certification tutoring and prep
  • College and Career advising

All services through the Learning Center are FREE of charge. If you or anyone you know could use any of these services, please contact us.

These ongoing classes help students prepare academically for a variety of programming:  preparation for the ETS HiSET high school equivalency exam, High School diploma credit courses, family literacy, basic adult literacy in math and reading, workforce training support such as CNA or ServSafe exam preparation, and more depending on individual needs and goals.

Schedules are designed around individual needs and availability.  Start times are flexible throughout the year.

  • Remote and distance learning options are also available. 
  • A formal meeting with the Program Director or Program Services Coordinator is required.
  • All Academic students must complete orientation paperwork and assessment testing before being assigned to classes.

If you want to learn touch-typing or improve your existing typing skills, this is the perfect course for you! With the skills you master here, you'll become faster and more confident at the keyboard. By the end of the course, you'll know how to touch-type the alphabetic, numeric, and symbol keys; create, save, and edit word processing documents; and successfully take a timed writing test during a job interview.

Computer Skills for the Workplace

Basic Reading

This class assists students in improving their vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. Students will learn about reading strategies that will improve their success in life and the workplace. Becoming a US Citizen
