This interactive MLL English class is for students who are advancing from beginner level and have CASAS scores at or above 220. We will work on increasing our understanding of the English language to engage in conversations and written exchanges about familiar topics.

Tech Spot - Skowhegan Location

SESSIONS BY APPOINTMENT
The Tech Spot is a School and Community Project that offers technology advice and tutoring to adults from throughout our school district.
Examples of possible help sessions include general computer operation, conducting web searches, using Facebook and other social media programs, and operating Smart phones, iPads, Tablets, and PCs. Assistance with some software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) is available as well.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Online Intermediate
with Kimberly Murphy, RSU 54/MSAD 54 Adult and Community Education
Note: This class will be offered virtually through Zoom. Students will occasionally be required to come to Skowhegan Area High School for testing.
This class assists students who are not native English speakers to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Instruction is designed to meet learners’ needs and can include helping participants with such important tasks as exploring how to talk with their child’s teacher, scheduling healthcare appointments, completing grocery shopping, obtaining a driver’s license, finding employment or learning about other valuable community resources.
Students can enter the class at any time and there is no charge for instruction. This class is designed for intermediate to more advanced students.
Intermediate: 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Note: This class will be offered in person at Skowhegan Area High School.
This class assists students who are not native English speakers in developing reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Instruction will be most appropriate for those who are at a beginner or intermediate level of English proficiency.
Beginners: 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Citizenship Preparation
with Old Orchard Beach/Saco Adult Education
For those seeking to achieve United States citizenship.
This 14-week in-person class will help you understand the naturalization process and prepare you for the interview and civics test.
Coursework includes in-class instruction, take-home study materials, and a compilation of online resources.
Students are expected to have regular class attendance and reliable transportation. Some basic English skills are required.

Telehealth - Connecting with your Healthcare Provider from Home

In this class we will look at how you can connect with your healthcare provider from the comfort of your own home. Telehealth is the new Home Visit, allowing healthcare providers to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients, whether it’s for checkups, consultations, or a follow-up appointment. We will discuss the process; from setting up your initial appointment, what to expect, insurance and patient portals to community resources.
"Cutting the Cord" - Getting TV & Phone Services Over the Internet

What does it mean to "Cut the Cord"? It's about canceling cable or satellite services and being able to watch television shows online, as well as options that would allow you to get rid of your landline. This class will not only show you the wide variety of options out there, but also teach you some tools to decide if cutting the cord is right for you.
