Maine Veterans' Home, in collaboration with Augusta Adult and Community Education and the Maine Community College System, is offering a FREE, state-approved CNA training program.

CNAs are caregivers who work directly with patients and residents to assist them with their activities of daily living, including their safety and comfort.

This course will be hosted by Maine Veterans’ Homes in Augusta at their new state-of-the-art facility located at 35 Heroes Way Augusta Maine. Join us for this exciting opportunity to learn the art of caregiving in a holistic healthcare model and give back to our Honored Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star family members.

Students enrolled in this certificate program complete a minimum of 130 hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical training, meeting all state licensing requirements. Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the state competency exam, the student will be eligible to enter the healthcare field as a Certified Nursing Assistant under the direction of a licensed nurse. Class size is limited so applying early is advised. Funding opportunities are available through the Pen Bay Apprentice Program's "Earn While You Learn" option, as well as several other programs. CLC Adult Education and LincolnHealth co-sponsor a FREE 130-hour minimum Certified Nursing Assistant training course. This CNA program is open to all adults by application only. Successful graduates are eligible to work in many areas of the healthcare field. The course is open to all adults by application and interview process. Applications are now available. You may call LincolnHealth Education (563-4540) to have an application packet sent to you. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED/HiSET in order to be considered for the course. *** Maine Health CNA Paid Apprenticeship Program *** (Subject to availability) Earn while you Learn Maine Health and Adult Education throughout the midcoast region are offering an “Earn while you Learn” opportunity. Through a paid apprentice program, you can earn money for your CNA training with an expected commitment to work in a care setting for 12 months. Apprenticeship candidates are eligible for benefits including health insurance. An application and interview are required to be considered for this program. This 40-hour CRMA course includes classroom training, with clinical available after successful completion of classroom. All students must complete clinical, either with our instructor or arranged through your facility. Successful students will be certified to administer oral medications to residents in state-licensed assisted living facilities. Clinical component is an additional $125 if done with MCST instructor. ***This is ONLY the APPLICATION. Students must be interviewed and accepted into the course. Upon acceptance the cost of the training will be $1,700.00.   Course will only run with at least 5 students in the class.**

This course is designed to prepare the entry-level phlebotomist or those individuals seeking a medical career pathway with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform in a medical laboratory environment. The phlebotomy student gains confidence and professionalism in the art of obtaining blood samples for laboratory analysis through repeated hands-on practice and instructor feedback. Students are provided instruction in the areas of communication, medical terminology, proper specimen collection, basic anatomy & physiology, as well as complications and variables surrounding venipuncture. In addition to instruction students will complete a 2 week clinical experience.

Upon completion of the course students will receive 3 credits through UMPI. The cost for this program is $1700.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Upon registration, program and application materials will be sent to you.

***Preference will be given to those who complete (or start the process of) immunizations prior to the interview. This includes HepB, which takes several weeks to complete. 

Application deadline is Friday,August 2nd, 2024 and interviews will follow shortly after.  Classes will begin on September 3rd.
