Who is a Dental Assistant?

The purpose of this course is to gain background knowledge and vocabulary for an entry level position in the clinical or administrative dental setting. Learning media provide specific insight into preclinical and clinical areas of dental assisting, reviewing chapter content and the application of content. Chapters include professional and legal aspects of dental assisting, anatomy and physiology, dental anatomy, infection control and hazardous materials, dental treatment, patient care, dental imaging, preventative dentistry, restorative dentistry, and specialized dentistry. Students will be given the building blocks for DANB RHS content certifications, and access to materials to prepare for this exam. Resume writing (including updated personal resume) and professional development are required for graduation. During each week of our 10-week program we assist the student to build the confidence, skills, and knowledge to assist the dentist and be a valuable member of the dental healthcare team. Each week of the course covers a different area of dental practice, allowing students to grasp the material in manageable chunks. The 130 hour Certified Nursing Assistant Course is designed to prepare the student to be a Nursing Assistant. Call the Adult Ed Office at 778-3460 for an application, registration requirements and placement on a waiting list. Details regarding dates, location and fees will be provided to participants as the class list is completed. Assessments are required (CASAS).

An all-inclusive 16-week program that includes live via Zoom class meetings (Tuesdays) and in-person skills labs (starting after week 4 on Thursdays) that prepare you to pass the National Certification. Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) national certification exam through NHA. Pricing will include national certification, 6 practice exams, online study materials, books, resume assistance, and all other associated fees. Externships may be available in your area.

Become Nationally Certified in 10 weeks as a Phlebotomy Technician. Our course is all-inclusive and prepares you for national certification with live classes via Zoom (Tuesdays) and in-person skills labs (Thursdays starting after week 4). You will be able to perform basic phlebotomy venipuncture procedures, answer patient questions, perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels on patients, prepare blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens for testing according to established standards. Pricing includes Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) national certification through NHA, books, resume, and job assistance.

Your registration doesn't secure your spot in the class.  Your registration details are necessary for SCAE to forward to American Medical Professionals.  Payments go directly to American Medical Professionals.  They offer multiple payment methods.

After signing up for the class, you'll receive a packet to fill out and send directly to American Medical Professionals.

Once you have filled out the paperwork and the information requested, Academy of Medical Professionals will reach out to you to complete your registration process.

What is a Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA)?                                     A Clinical Medical Assistant is a medical support professional that performs a variety of tasks to assist physicians in providing patient care, while ensuring that clinics and hospitals run smoothly and efficiently.  While CMAs working in smaller practices may be required to perform some administrative tasks, those working in larger medical facilities focus mainly on providing support services directly related to patient care.  Here at the Academy we offer both Clinical and Administrative programs that can be combined.
