In this hands-on experience, you’ll craft your own bagel dough from scratch, knead it to perfection, and master the art of hand-rolling. As the dough transforms into those chewy, golden rings, we’ll guide you through the traditional boiling and baking process - the very same steps that make Brooklyn bagels legendary. Whether you’re a seasoned baker or a curious food enthusiast, the class promises a delightful journey into bagel bliss. All ingredients, materials, equipment and recipes will be provided. Bagels contain gluten.
Map & Compass Basics
with Brad Rounds, Windham/Raymond Adult Education
Map and Compass Basics is a Next Step program from Maine INland Fisheries and Wildlife. This workshop teaches use of maps to obtain distance, direction, and detail information and how to use an orienteering compass. Also learn hot to use map and compass together. If you have a preferred compass, bring it, but loaners are available, It's a combination indoor/outdoor session.

Make Your Best Shot: Photo Safari

Although smartphones and point and shoot cameras have improved, DSLR cameras offer more functionality, and if you’re looking to take your photography to the next level, there’s really no comparison. See how basic adjustments to your camera can take your photos up a notch. Pick up simple tricks and techniques to turn your basic photos into masterpieces, and practice proper framing and subject selection just like the pros do.
Understanding the relationship between ISO, shutter speed, and aperture settings and others a key element to getting great photos. We’ll expand on the relationship between f-stops, shutter speed, ISO, and flash ratings, white balance and capturing in raw mode and different camera modes to appropriately capture different subjects. We’ll go over settings and work with lenses, flashes and learn about other features only available with DSLR cameras.
This class is open to people with DSLR cameras only. Mike works with Canon but will work with any other brand. There will be at least one off-site photography outing-dates TBA. The outing is included in the registration price for this class. It is also open to people who have taken Mike’s class with us before. For past students, there will be a ten dollar charge for the outing only. It will be listed as a separate class on the website. Please bring your own camera to class. This must be a camera with removable lenses. If you have a point and shoot camera or a cellphone, this is not the class for you.
About Mike: Mike Leonard has been taking pictures for more than 40 years and among his favorite subjects to shoot are nighttime scenes including lightning and Aurora, and in the daytime he likes shooting landscapes, seascapes, lighthouses and more. His work is frequently on covers of The Notes publication in Yarmouth, Maine, in the Maine Activities Guide, on the local CBS affiliate in weather casts and his work has also been featured in books, magazines, annual reports, brochures, textbooks and nationally on the Weather Channel. Beaded Bouquet and Candle-Making Workshop

You will enjoy a night of fun personalizing your candle, choosing your scents, and crafting a unique bouquet no one will believe was crafted by you! Artificial flowers are handmade using acrylic beads and metal wire. They are perfect for daily use and can be placed indoors and outdoors as a stunning eye-catching centerpiece decoration. Have you heard of the magic that is alcohol inks? Create a watercolor look on non-porous surfaces. Make plain white tiles into pieces of art. No art skills needed to make something gorgeous, super easy, and unique. Paint on glazed surfaces, glass, metal, etc. A variety of surfaces will be provided.

Power of Line Part 2 - Zoom Only

Power of Line Part II, offered via Zoom, will focus on the elements and principles of design, and feature more intensive 'drawing from life' studies. Additional drawing media and techniques will be explored and utilized in new and interesting projects during this class. Please note that if you have not yet taken Power of Line Part I class, you may enroll in this Part II class with instructor permission only. A short supply list is available when you register.
What a GOOD Dog!

Start your dog off on the right paw! This course will help you and your dog begin working as a team. We use people- and dog-friendly methods that will teach your dog to come when you call, walk politely on leash, interact appropriately with people and other dogs, and respond enthusiastically to you. Each class includes plenty of socialization, question/answer time, and problem solving to help you turn your dog into the type of companion you can truly be proud to take anywhere.
• Requirements: non-chain leashes, a well-fitting collar and current rabies shots
Students under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
