Our community needs individuals who want to make a difference in a child's life.

Maine Children with intellectual challenges, autism, and mental health disorders, as well as their families, depend on Children's Behavioral Health Services, and there is a huge need in our area!  A Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) is an essential member of a child's treatment team and has the chance to have an instant influence while assisting children in reaching their full potential.

We are thrilled to provide this fantastic Blended training to our community.  You will be equipped to work with children who need services, while preparing yourself for employment with local social service agencies and/or school programs.  Start whenever you choose, and go at your own pace.  You have 6 months from your registration day to complete the course.

You will complete 12 online modules, then participate in two Live sessions:  BHP Live Day (8 - 9 hours offered in-person or virtually) and Ethical Considerations (2.5 hours offered virtually).  You will also receive a stipend to obtain Child & Adult First Aid/CPR Certification and free online training in blood-borne pathogens.  Our free remote training program can get you certified and started in a career that will change your life in just 40 hours.

Required:  Must be a Maine resident and at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent to become certified.  The state also requires that you take an in-person cpr/first aid class.  The cost of up to $100 will be reimbursed once you have completed the American Red Cross or American Heart Saver Course.  Woodfords CPR/FA classes in Westbrook, Manchester and Brewer are free for all workforce learners.

Jeffrey Carpenter, Workforce Recruitment Specialist for the State of Maine's Office of Child and Family Services through Woodfords Family Services, is here to help you through the learning opportunity by providing answers to questions and assistance with technical issues, should any arise.  He is also a resource to connect you with service agencies once you have completed the training.

Over exposed image?  No problem -- adjust the exposure in editing mode.  Wish your photo could be black and white instead of color?  Choose a filter and change the ambiance of your image.  Does the main object of your picture seem lost among extraneous details?  Use the cropping feature to focus your viewer's eye on the most important part of the image.  These examples are just a few of the many ways you can turn an average image into something special.  Have fun editing your pictures with the many options in your Mac's Photos app.

Many people have 1000 or more images stored in their Mac desktop/laptop Photos App.  Frustration sets in when one tries to locate a picture or a video among the multitude of saved images.  Understanding the built-in organization of the Mac Photos app is the first thing you will learn in this course.  Next comes organizing your images and video into albums and folders in order to develop your own management system.  Plus, you will also learn how to tag people in photos and create shared albums that you can invite friends and family to view.

In this course, BoomerTECH Adventures guides Chris, Jill, and Ed to share their love of cooking and enjoyment of lots of different types of food.  You will learn how to prepare several tasty stir-fries using traditional Chinese flavorings, make fresh pasta, turn a leftover sweet potato into gnocchi, stir up great fried rice, and give ramen soup a delicious upgrade.  In addition, discover an easy way to make your own pita pockets, flatbreads, and tortillas.  Plus, you will see a way to combine the benefits of cooking on cast iron with your love of grilling.  We haven't forgotten dessert!  Who can resist a delectable chocolate brownie torte or apple pie?

This course is designed for those who want to develop an online course using Zoom, a video conferencing platform.  This guide consists of step-by-step videos that explain and demonstrate how to use Zoom as well as appropriate instructional tips to build an engaging online course in any subject.  You will learn everything you need to know about Zoom - tools, settings, security, instructional strategies, building community, Zoom tips for instructors and students, and much more.

Everyone has a story to tell.  Writing your memoir helps you reflect on the varied experiences that impacted your life and helped shape who you are today.  This course looks at a variety of digital tools, available through any digital device, that make the process of memoir writing more fun and a little less daunting.  You will explore several unique approaches to research, learn strategies for gathering and storing materials in an easily accessible place, and delve into ways to illustrate your memoir even if you are not an artist.  Polishing your work for publication and presenting it in a public format are other video topics.  You will leave the course well-equipped to begin your writing adventure.

Most of us take hundreds of photos that languish on our iPhone/iPad or in the cloud.  Knowing how to edit images and organize your photos on your iPhone and iPad is essential.  Other areas of study include using the tabs in the Photos app - the "For You" tab (ready-made slide shows), creating, using, and sharing albums, and the very useful search function.
